Overview:
17
Strengths:Notes:
18
Hand StrengthStrong hands that can lock on and stand up just about any opponent.
19
Blocking Out in SpaceHis ability to seek and destroy defenders out in space is both impressive and fun to watch.
20
AthleticismClearly a high level athlete with great movement skills. This allows him to quickly get outside for screens and run blocks, and deal with speed rushers more easily from quick feet and mirroring.
21
22
Weaknesses:Notes:
23
Hand UsageHis hand placement is highly inconsistent in both the run and pass game.
24
AnchorHe consistently struggles to deal with power, especially long-arms since he already allows hands to get into his chest more often than he should.
25
Inside ShoulderOften late to reposition on counters back towards the inside shoulder.

Game:Takeaways:
29
Washington State (10/14/2023)A bit off balance. Quick lateral movements, but shorter strides. Shorter arms, which is evident by ends extending into his chest. May fair better on the interior. Strong hands and finisher. Lateral deficiencies against speed rushers, but athletic enough to be a good pulling guard. Solid contact at next level. Good flexibility and angles. Strong hands and active arms, but not great balance for the position. Big time run block. Definitely has a mean streak. Great in space. Pointless foul, but fun to watch him tackle the cornerback. Active feet. Locks up with grip and strong hands. Great outside mirroring when there is no counter move. Good bracing, but hips don't sink on anchor. Quite athletic. Prone to losing rep on legitimate pass rush moves. Moves and plays like a guard. Bull rush crushed him due to a poor base and arm placement. Not always first off the line. Climbs for key second level block. Some pass blocking deficiencies that can be mostly overcome by moving inside. High level run blocking guard who needs to improve against the bull rush. Beat one-on-one on inside shoulder to allow sack.Early 3rd Guard prospect. Would be higher if he showed a better response and anchor against power rushers.

UCLA (11/04/2023)Gets out in space really well. Fluid athlete. Contact is inconsistent. Excellent lateral movements and mirroring, engulfing Murphy on the speed rush. Poor anchor against power. Technique of clapping opponents outside shoulders helps against speed, but leaves him susceptible to a sudden long arm. Gets downhill in a hurry. Good flexibility. Target selection and execution run blocking are impressive. Good vision run blocking, but not always for pass blocking on stunts. Head occasionally drops too quickly on run block. Could use length better for having 34.5" arms. Can match mid-rush acceleration. Deals with speed rush technique really well. Great fluidity in his movements. Much better overall tape.Grade has moved up to an early 2nd. Still probably a guard, but could also thrive at tackle in some NFL schemes.
31
Utah (11/18/2023)Pops off the snap. May struggle with speed as a tackle, particularly against inside counters. Gets out in space quickly. Great footwork efficiency. Mean run blocker in any scheme. Struggling a bit with run block assignment. Clearly a great athlete out in space, but not making much of a difference in the run game. Turns body too quickly when going against bendy speed rushers around the edge. Hand placement needs to be addressed. Handles power well. Would be much more effective with consistent hand usage. Definitely more of a guard prospect. Not great tape, but still an early-mid 2nd round guard prospect.

Final Scouting Report:
34
Despite playing exclusively as a left tackle in his five years at Arizona, Morgan has a skill set more comparable to most NFL guards than tackles. He is highly explosive off the line, has strong hands in the run game, and understands how to anchor against power. His footwork in the run game is efficient, and he is comfortable blocking out in space. His primary deficiency stems from his inability to reliably deal with speed on the edge without some major compensations that open him up to getting beat by a variety of pass rush moves when coming from an experienced rusher. He also lacks reliable hand placement, which is the primary concern with him moving in to guard once the threat of bendy edge rushers is eliminated. Morgan should become a plus starting guard at the next level who can swing out to tackle in a pinch, but this is a more difficult projection since he has never taken an inside snap throughout his long college career.
