Our school embraces the rich ethnic traditions, customs, and values of this south-east Waukegan school. Carman-Buckner Elementary School's dedicated staff maintain the for excellence and building Leadership Skills within all our students. Collectively our strong teacher teams work toward fulfilling the Waukegan School District vision of ensuring that every school is a thriving school, preparing all students for college, career and community. Our aligned and standards-based curriculum has resulted in recent exponential increases in student achievement. Throughout the halls visitors will hear Cougar scholars celebrating their successes, exclaiming how they have reached their goals, "See the P.R.I.D.E. in me, Respectful and Responsible is the only way to be." Parents, guardians, and children are considered unique individuals and are provided with a school learning community that fosters collaboration and building of partnerships for the advancement of student achievement and success. fosters a desire to learn, and supports every community member to discover and strengthen their skills, and abilities so that each is prepared to be a productive participant in our changing global society.

6) Implemented Tier 2 Interventions ensuring any student below the 25 percentile in NWEA Reading in Grades K-5 receives intervention.
7) Implemented After-school tutoring and special Saturday Tutoring dates to provide extended learning opportunities.

With a vision of empowering every student to excel in academic achievement, we will continue to utilize best practices so that student success will continue to increase. Staff will continue to grow and develop in best practices and deliver high quality teaching to every student. We are striving to meet the district goals in math and reading for the 2022-2023 school year. Carman Buckner Staff is focus on making revisions to curriculum mapping and implementing with fidelity and consistency.

Using MTSS, effective PLCs, and structured teacher collaboration, we are working to ensure each and every student in our building receives the best education through our committment to implementing best practices in each classroom that meets the needs of every student. We continue to be focused on goal to ensure that all students in our school are successful by encouraging them to excel socially, emotionally, and academically. We believe that all students can reach their full potential to guarantee college and career readiness.
