Girl ScoutsMs. WilsonThe purpose of the Girls Scout club is to work together to build a better world. We complete journeys together that help us to dig deeper into our interests while making a difference in the community. For example, last year we completed the sow what journey. First, we learned about and had discussions on the importance of composting in the world. After, I’ve completed a composting project in Oceanside on January eighth. We helped out with chopping feedstock, moving organic materials to composting areas, assisting people to the farm who were dropping off food scraps, watering and taking the temperatures of compost piles, sifting worm castings, spreading finished compost, etc. This composting project helped the botanical community in growing produce for meals for children in low income communities where there is little fresh food. Another journey we completed last year was called Mission sisterhood. In the group, we spoke about what sisterhood means to us and reflected on our core values, what qualities we look for in others, and how we can lift each other up. To complete this journey, we created and shared collages of girls we look up to, girls who look up to us, and our best girl friends. Afterwards, we designed posts with tips on how to treat oneself and others that were sent out to the students in the school every day for a week. Finally, this club gives members the opportunity to earn the Girl Scout gold award. After completing 2 journeys, each Girl Scout will plan and execute a project that makes a lasting impacting on the community. If done successfully, they will earn the Girl Scout gold award.

With all the added stressors of family, social life, and meeting ur demands of school work and extra curriculums, students mental health may be at risk. Alive and warm will give students a chance to let go of things that are stressing them out and help students navigate through their high school years. We will participate in activities such as journaling, to help gather students thoughts and express how they are feeling in a safe way. As well as different forms of meditations and community bonding like bracelet making. We will also create an instagram account promoting affirmations of kindness and love and supporting our Dons mental health.
16
Lean On MeMrs. KerbyOur club's main goal is to actively spread awareness regarding suicide and the wide variety of mental health issues taking over the world currently, as well as to create a community of support while encouraging others to do the same. We plan to connect with students as we destigmatize mental health in the high school environment. The reason we wish to start this club at Cathedral is because many young people are facing struggles without a support system to lean on. Sadly, there are many teen suicides, even within our own social circle. Our society is surrounded by this culture and we want to make that more known in hopes to prevent people from ignoring it, but rather face the realities of its impacts head on. We plan to work with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and try to bring some of their programs and presentations into Cathedral. We also plan to attend their out of the darkness suicide walk and raise money to support the cause. We will talk about these events as well as what else we can do at school (like during yellow ribbon week for example) during meetings, in addition to being a body of support for people struggling with some of these heavy emotions and thoughts. We want people to know they can “Lean on us”.
17
Sharia’s Closet Club Mr. Treadwell Our club partners with an orginization called Sharia’s Closet. The orginization was founded as an emergency clothing service for people in need. Whether it’s domestic abuse, homelessness, or abandonment, Sharia’s closet is a non-profit that relies off of donated clothes. In our club, we would collect donated clothes from students and families, pre make outfits for individuals of need, and sort clothes. On average, the orgnization receives 50+ requested clothing bags a day; with our help, more bags and requests would be filled quicker and more efficiently. Outside of school, we’d bring the bags of clothes and outfits back to Sharia’s Closet’s location. Other donations our club would request would be books, shoes, accessories, and hygiene items.

Dons AdoptMr. FriceDons Adopt would be an Animal Advocacy club that focuses on spreading love for animals and educating youth on animal rights issues. We would work with Rancho Coastal Humane Society to help with pet supplies/toy drives as well as fundraisers. The reason for Dons Adopt is because there are so many pets looking for a second chance, and I know the community at Cathedral has the heart to help them. It is also important to get students excited about treating animals with Christlike respect as they would want to be treated. During lunch meetings we would talk about animal rights issues and brainstorm how we can help. I would create a short slide presentation on recent RCHS or Animal news. We would brainstorm about how we as a Catholic community can positively impact these animals and what we can do to help Rancho’s needs. And we would all get caught up on what we can do to get Rancho Coastal’s message out to as many people as we can
21
The Guardian Angel ProjectMr. HoganThe Guardian Angel Project is a club where we believe children are the next generation and the future depends on them. Our main goal is to be there for orphans emotionally, as well as to guide them academically. We will often attend an orphanage in Tijuana as well as a local one here in San Diego. There, we will create activities for them, as well as provide them with the basics of education (math, english, art). This will bring the children a sense of hope, comfort, and love. Our reason for this club comes from our gratitude of having an education , along with a loving family. We want to share our gifts with kids who haven’t had a fair chance at life. The reason we have chosen to not only help locally, but on the other side of the boarder as well is because, we believe that where you’ve been placed does not define your value. During our club meetings we will organize and plan the upcoming activities for the orphans, and plan ways to fundraise.
22
Future Healthcare ClubFrancis Caro The purpose of the club is to inform and introduce students to different aspects of healthcare by bringing in various physicians, dentists, physicians assistants, and more to talk about their education background, and walk students through a day in their life. This will allow students interested in healthcare to learn about job options they have within the field, and determine which career they feel resonates most with them. If for some reason we cannot find an individual available for the month, we will create a presentation about a job.

We also encourage meeting new people and make new friends over a shared love of coffee. The CCCA will also study and learn about other countries coffee and culture and when possible, brew them in order to experience their flavors. I want there to be a safe, cozy place on campus where coffee enthusiasts can relax from their school activities and enjoy a fresh cup of joe.
25
Paws with PurposeMs. FloresOur club is dedicated to giving back to the animal community through our services. With activities planned such as fundraisers, shelter volunteering, donations and much more. Through these, we want to advocate for all the animals in San Diego, whether domestic or wild. For example, we hope to host a pet food drive at Cathedral Catholic where all members of our community can donate food which then will be distributed to local shelters and financially struggling pet-owners. This donation will help shelters with under stocking and prevent malnourishment in animals. In the volunteering sense, Hellen Woodward offers many “Event Volunteer Opportunities” that do not require any special training or prerequisites. We anticipate organizing a group to volunteer at a medley of these events and benefit Hellen Woodward and the animals in the process. Lastly, we hope to arrange nature clean ups so we can create clean and healthy habitats for all wildlife. We started this club to provide and help out our animal community, but to simultaneously teach students about collaboration and compassion in the process. For our meetings, we will describe and plan future service projects and opportunities. The purpose of our meetings is to collaborate as a group, making sure everyone feels like they have a voice and something they want to participate in. As a club, we aim to have a positive impact on San Diego’s animal community this year and are extremely excited for all the fun activities we have planned.
26
Paintball ClubMr. SanchezThe club I plan on creating is a club that focuses on two major areas of paintball. One side is the casual everyday player who will want to come out and play with friends every so often. The other side is the competitive side. Speed ball is the name and it 5v5 games in a tournament structure that require communication and skill. I want to practice and create a team to participate in real tournaments. The reason I want to create the club is to give students an opportunity to a hobby/sport that is fun and competitive, without the commitment of a sport. The speedball side of the club is a bit different because it requires more time commitment to practice and prepare. I want to bring this team to a competitive level to compete in a real tournament.

We will be there to remind them that they are not alone in this fight. Douglass and I are very passionate about this cause for many reasons. 7 years ago Douglass’s father had passed away from cancer. During our first year at Cathedral Douglass and I met our friend Alex Polifka in our learning center class who had been diagnosed with cancer. Through our high school experience, we became closer to him and really wanted to help. One day in our club we are going to devote a day to him. At our lunch meetings, we are going to set up volunteering for different organizations, we will make care packages for cancer patients, and we will write messages for them to build hope. We are going to guide our club to understand how to volunteer for these organizations.

H.O.P.E (Helping Other Preemies Excel)Mrs. DeSantis I was born premature at 1 and a half pounds. My family and I were very fortunate to have support during this time. However, not all preemies and their families have this support. I would like to help other families with premature babies that don’t have that support that my family was so fortunate to have. My club would help support families who have premature babies. When I was in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) people donated handmade blankets and hats to myself and other premature babies. I would like to donate similar items to the hospitals and families with preemies. H.O.P.E would reach out to local sewing shops to advertise to their clients if they could help sew blankets for premature babies. We would also reach out to Cathedral Catholic students who would like to sew blankets and other items for preemies. Also, premature babies need smaller and more expensive diapers. My organization would have bake sales and other fundraisers to help purchase preemie diapers and other products. National preemie day is in November and not only would it be a good time to help gather support but also raise awareness. Finally, I would like to create a site where other preemies and I could share positive stories about how we’ve turned out despite our struggles to give other families H.O.P.E.
31
Sustainable CCHSMs. MoreyOur club is committed to making Cathedral and the world around us a more sustainable place. During lunch meetings we plan to organize our service projects which will include: an electronic waste recycling drive, volunteering at a recycling drive, and reducing single waste plastics on the Cathedral campus and in our everyday lives. We also plan to have a sustainability speaker come to one of our lunch meetings to educate club members on this vital issue in our everyday lives.

Dropping AnchorsKristin BrandeberryThe purpose of my club is to improve the lives of underprivileged teens (specifically high schoolers) in San Diego. Gabriela’s GiftMr. WiegandGabriela’s Gift is a service club with a mission dedicated to working together to inspire our community to give back to children with cancer and other life threatening ailments by collecting toys and gift cards and fundraising. Our focus will be collecting toys and gift cards twice a year and giving these to children in children’s hospitals, during the December holiday season and in the spring. My family taught me to give back to others at an early age, as I helped distribute toys to UCSF Benioff Children’s hospital since I was 2 years old. This club is meaningful because I had cancer as an infant and my mom created Gabriela’s Gift during my first year in the hospital because she knew first hand how hard it is for families during the holidays when they have to go through something so unimaginably hard, and often did not have the means to purchase toys for their sick children and their siblings. I plan to have monthly club meetings to brainstorm how to collect gift cards and toys and to encourage students to give back. We will have toy and gift card drives at school and in front of local businesses if possible. We will also have students create cards to give to the kids in the hospital.
71
Sweet Treats SocietyMr. Collins/Ms. LaPorte Our club is mainly a baking club, and our goal is to spread awareness and raise money for a pollution organization. A wonderful leadership experience I had in the past consisted of leading a team of peers to raise money for a homeless organization located in San Diego through bake sales. I put in consistent efforts to this project by organizing and planning events, baking and selling a variety of baked goods. I have experience and leadership skills with leading a baking club. Also, I am very passionate about baking. Our club will consist of raising awareness for the problem of pollution, and we will provide information about and advertise our bake sales. We will donate money and collaborate with organizations to spread awareness for pollution. If there are already any/many clubs that are already about the cause of ocean pollution, then we are happy to switch our service club for another cause. However, we would love to utilize baking numerous treats to sell at bake sales that could be at school(s), parks, events and more in order to raise money for a cause, which would ideally be ocean pollution. Club members would receive numerous opportunities in order to sell baked goods, advertise events, spread awareness through posters, cards and more!

The “right to life” is the fundamental belief upon which all other human rights are based upon. Our mission is to educate teens about the prejudices experienced by their peers so that we may mitigate bias and come Together as One. Students have the opportunity to share and learn from each other’s experiences on our campus, as well as from other TGAO clubs in San Diego through collaborative events and social media pages. On Wednesdays in Ms. Wilsons room, we discuss kindness goals and reflect on the challenges and successes of previous goals/projects. Past projects include blanket making for Father Joes, community bonding games, poster making for anti-bullying movements, participation in the #LinksofLove project with local charity Kids for Peace, rock painting and other crafts, etc. This has proved to help build awareness and empathy throughout campus, and its impact must continue this school year.

Human Rights ClubPaulina Gonzales. For years, Human rights club has both served Cathedral Catholic and the community outside of Cathedral. Through service, events on campus, volunteering, drives, and an active social media presence, Human Rights Club has proudly had a large impact on and off campus with more than 150 members. We plan to continue this service both on and off campus by volunteering at homeless shelter, food banks, assembling hygiene kits for underprivileged individuals across the globe, engaging in human right events across greater San Diego, and building a greater awareness to human rights issues and problems across not only San Diego, but the globe. During our monthly Wednesday meetings, we plan to discuss the new service and mission trip opportunities for members, and open up discussion for human rights abuses happening across the globe. To add onto this, we will brainstorm new service ideas, and discuss and Brian storm social media posts pertaining to recent Human Rights injustices. According to the HR website, “The Human Rights Club is a non-partisan international group led by student activists who are dedicated to promoting and spreading awareness of human rights issues around the world, while also focusing on how we can put an end to the issues that plague our local communities. We firmly believe that every human being, no matter the color, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and sexual orientation, has rights that should never be stripped from them, no matter the circumstances. We refuse to back down when human lives are at stake. Through activism, education, and fundraising, HRC strives to create a world where human rights are of the upmost global importance.
What first started as a small club at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, California, has now grown to be an international group which can be found in several states across America, as well as abroad. Everyday, we strive to educate ourselves and others on human rights issues around the globe, aiming to broaden awareness in order to bring about real and lasting change. over the globe, there are human rights abuses. Whether in our local communities or in a country thousands of miles away, we do everything in our power to raise awareness and put an end to the issues. In each Human Rights Club chapter, members organize and participate in local service activities. Giving back to our community and fighting to solve local human rights issues is vital to our mission as advocates of human rights. From abuses at home to around the world, the Human Rights Club is dedicated to ensuring that all humans are equal in their ability to live out their basic human rights. Alongside local service, we also fundraise to directly help solve human rights abuses.
All proceeds raised by the Human Rights Club will be distributed to non-partisan human rights organizations, advocating issues aligned with the HRC's initiatives, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, UNICEF, Save Uighur Campaign, and more. We have a broad range of organizations that we seek to support, ensuring that we are covering a wide variety of human rights issues.” This is exactly what the new Human Rights club leaders strive to keep doing.
