KR 1.1Fish lives already improved in 2024:1,281,0001,000,000128%CompleteWe expect a 60-80% probability of achieving this. There are four pending instances of fishes helped, which may add another 150-200,000 fishes in Q3. In Q4, we expect better overall weather and thus water quality but we are also adding further farms, increasing the likelihood of detecting issues.
We feel confident that we will reach at least 800,000.

(Note: At the time of writing, we had helped 525,000 fishes)

KR 2.1Study completed to inform new strategies to improve fish welfare:11100%We completed an efficacy study to assess the potential of Fortified Feed. Data is still being analysed, which will inform next steps for this project. Due to our plans to publish this study in a peer-reviewed journal, we cannot share preliminary data at this point in time.We are on track to hit 1-2 here, as we expect both the following studies to be completed by the end of the year:
- Feed fortification
- DO Tolerance
15
KR 2.2Study completed to inform viable strategies for cost-effective scale-up of the ARA:11100%We completed a proof-of-concept study to assess the potential to leverage satellite imagery for remotely monitoring water quality. We were initially excited about the results of this study, but further assessment of the data flagged concerns about the reliability of the findings. We are currently pursuing other options, notably an Innovation Challenge which was launched in December.Complete

KR 2.3Exploratory program initiated and undergoing monitoring to inform decisions around scale-up:010%Not completed. Initial scoping work was conducted, but we deprioritized this goal as the results of this scoping revealed that the initial exploratory program we were considering was based on inaccurate information. Alternative options were considered, but ultimately found to be not sufficiently promising to consider taking forward.Expected not to complete, as we have since deprioritized this goal as the initial program we were considering was based on faulty information and we haven't found it sufficiently promising to consider something else.
17
KR 2.4Welfare assessment protocol developed and ready to use as a key monitoring and evaluation tool:010%Not completed. Work was initiated, including the development of a “beta” version of the protocol intended to be iteratively improved based on field testing. Timelines for this project were impacted by significant delays in getting ethical approval from our partner university, which was required before we could initiate field testing. This work will continue into 2025.
Expected to complete late, in the first quarter of 2025. Significant delays were caused by delays in getting ethical approval from our partner university.

KR 3.1Additional fish farms committed to the ARA in 2024:8310083%See earlier update. We decided to not add the remaining farms because we shifted priority to an outcome assessment to be conducted in 2025 which will require further farm additions.
21
KR 3.2New regions expanded to:11100%Complete, see blog postComplete
22
KR 3.3Strategies rolled out to improve existing ARA program:1333%We have continued deprioritizing this goal and thus remained at 1 improvement. However, we have just rolled out further improvements to be tested on January 2, 2025.We decided to deprioritize this goal and instead focus on resolving remaining programmatic assumptions at the ARA. We may develop and roll out one further strategy in Q4 bringing us to a total of "2".

KR 4.1Influential stakeholder tested for capacity to support future fish welfare work:010%We revised this strategy because we wanted to see if the Central Pollution Control Board would directly work with us. The project is nearly done. A blog post update will be published soon, at which point we expect to count the project as complete.

KR 4.2Representation submitted to Central Government for fisheries policy advocacy:21200%Complete. Political representations submitted to two separate government entities.
