2017 Fanwork Exchange Survey Results

First, so sorry for the delay on this! Obviously, there are some questions that are thoroughly irrelevant in October 2018, like "what are you looking forward to for 2018." I would like to congratulate the respondant who wanted Parallels to come back, though!

The survey ran from January 29 through February 25 2018, with 148 total respondants. These results are being released October 12, 2018.

Answers in italics are "other" answers. Occasionally I've combined "other" answers that all said the same thing with slightly different wording, using my highly scientific method of "that sounds about right."

I haven't gotten around to sorting the "what contributes to a negative exchange experience" data yet. In general, it's the opposite of what makes a positive experience. (so, bad modding, lack of communication, unclear rules, an assignment you don't like, wanky community culture.)

Special shout-out to mornelithe_falconsbane for her spreadsheet array magic, which let us split out the short answers into usable data. Also shoutout to Morbane and everyone else who suggested questions and topics! I regret I couldn't cover all the great ideas they had.

If anyone is interested in running a follow-up survey for year-to-year comparison, let me know and I can give you whatever might be useful to you (including notes on topics I didn't get around to covering). I won't be running one myself, though :)
