More interaction with students, direct instruction can be captured and disseminated for whenever students need it.

Class time for skill application.
Units set-up in advance, students can control the information.

Can have an impact on failure rates.

Flipped Learning
Direct Instruction = outside class
Class time = other things; groups work, labs, etc

Gives students flexibility for direct instruction

Students seem to like it, and say it helps differentiate...slower students can take it slower.

I think flipped learning has a lot of potential, but shouldn't necessarily be video-based, or at least, video exclusive.

There are other ways students can "learn" the material on their own time, at their own pace, and then apply the material during class time.

I'd really like to use this in my English class. I'd like to explore what other kinds of activities will occupy the individual working time and how to keep the kids on task/accountable for their individual effort.

Flipped learning could look like using your class time more collaboratively and the direct instruction piece is learned outside of the classroom.

One school has decreased the failure rate substantially at their school by all core classes adopting a flipped classroom model.

It is a great way to expand the learning outside of the classroom.

It can look very different in classrooms.

Started by students missing class.
This is going to be great for students that are missing class.

Class time is used to collaborate, critical think based on questions.

Students do the learning at home so they come to school knowing the real lesson.

We are preparing our students for jobs that don't exist yet so they need to gain the skills to process and critically think themselves!!!
