IntroductionI created this spreadsheet to help create a meal plan for a four week period. I found the recipe books written as part of the 8 week blood sugar diet and the Fast 800 diet very good and contain all the nutritional content I needed but pulling them together in a plan which balanced the nutrition I wanted was very laborious

OverviewThis menu planner has three sheets

The Books sheet holds the full names of the recipe books used with their three letter short code. The code needs to be only three letters for the formulae to work.

The Recipes sheets holds all of the recipes with their nutritional content. Each recipe is given a short code which will identify the recipe book and page. Where there are multiple recipes on a single page additional numbers are added. The maximum number of character for the page reference is five. Every recipe must have an unique ID code. The Recipes sheet has an auto-color setting on the nutrition data to highlight 'good' and 'bad'. This is set for a Low Carb style diet, so Carbs and Calories bad, Fat, Protein and Fibre good.

The Planner sheet which allows you to create a four week plan of recipes and review the nutritional content of the day. I have locked the cells in this sheet to stop inadvertent changes to cells that are calculated. If you want to change these cells you will need to remove the protection.

InstructionsIn the Recipes sheet use the filters next to the column titles to find the Meal Type you are looking for (Breakfast, Lunch, Main Meal). You can also filter by Subtype and also nutritional content. For instance use this to find recipes with less than 10g of carbs.

From the reduced filtered list browse and choose the recipes you like. Copy the ID of the recipe you want into the correct ID field on the Planner Sheet

The Planner sheet will expand your selection to a more readable form with a reference to the book and the page you need to look up to make the recipe.

Once you have a day complete you may need to re-adjust your selections if the day does not match your goal for calories and carbs.

Once you are complete use the - and + filters on the left of the Planner sheet to hide the nutritional details when you are finished to be able to print a single sheet

In the selections current set in my Menu Plan I focused on reducing Carbs and Cals, and was less worried about Fibre and Fat. Your criteria may be different.

MaintenanceFeel free to add further recipes from other books or your own. You will need to make a copy of this workbook to your local Google drive (File-> Make a Copy) in order to make any changes.
