Intro:
Think of this chart as a "mind map" for using digital tools to reach GENz learners. This will be a live sheet where new tools and ideas will be added. Use the tab below "Community Generated Resources" to add content or curriculum ideas and reflections as you try some of these tools in your classroom. Our hope is that this will be a FCPS community learning tool!
2
Suggested Use:
Make a copy of the sheet and add it to your drive so you can revisit often. Note: Also bookmark this copy so you get continuous updates.
1. Self assess the characteristics of GENz learners you are already successfully meeting in your classroom (check boxes column B)
2. Self assess the tech tools you are already successfully using in your classroom. (check boxes column E)
3. Celebrate! You already using a lot of digital tools in the classroom!
4. Throughout the year, revisit this tool to find new digital tools and experiences to try with your students.
5. This tab is "locked" and unable to be edited. However, we want to learn from YOU! Use the 2nd Tab, Community Resources to add new tools or new curriculum ideas.
3
WOW! There are so many digital tools, where do I start? We have added some curriculum ideas to generate ideas. Sometimes, it's helpful just knowing what a tool is called so you can research it or look up ideas on twitter, facebook or search the web or youtube for ideas. If you want help trying a new digital tool in your classroom put in a help desk ticket for your ITRT! We would love to help.
4
Word of caution and comfort:
The goal is NOT to know how to use EVERY tool. The goal is to try and incorporate new tools where it fits in easily with your curriculum and your students. Maybe you want to try 2 new tools a year? Start small and gain confidence in a FEW tools that you are able to incorporate WELL and with quality instead of trying to many all at one time.
