By designing and operating our own Arena, these are experiences we can directly control and improve upon. We don't have similar data from the NHL for Wells Fargo Center. Comcast did invest $400 million into the Wells Fargo Center, but many of the same issues that rank us in the bottom quartile of the NBA still exist even after improvements. We would prefer to own our own space that gives us the control to create the best experience for our fans and players.

Philadelphia was once home to two arenas — The Wells Fargo Center and The Spectrum — and had the demand to support both.

The Wells Fargo Center is booked up most of the year with Flyers games, Sixers games, and concerts. According to Pollstar, we host far fewer events than would be expected for a market like Philadelphia as we result.

Additionally, CAA ICON, an industry leading sports and entertainment consultant, performed a market study that analyzed key demographic and supply/demand metrics for Philadelphia. Their analysis, which was supplied to the City for independent verification, conservatively estimates Philadelphia can support an additional 50 events from today's level. Dallas and Miami host 50 more events per year with similar population sizes and two arenas. Philly currently hosts the same number of events as Phoenix and Minneapolis, both of which are considerably smaller cities. By building a second arena, we bring more events, more economic activity, and more tax revenue to our city.

At the same time, we believe this private investment is an excellent way to apply our expertise in a way that directly benefits the entire city. This is one of the reasons we've chosen this location, which can help revitalize Market East, why we are not asking for City money, and why we are proposing the largest community benefits agreement in the history of Philadelphia -- all of which would not happen without this development.

Outside of the arena, we are proud of our track record of investing in our communities, which include programs like Buy Black, Spirit of Small Business, or our $20 Million commitment to racial equity.
