The GREEN Lab @ Iramoo is all about grasslands. It is located on the St Albans Campus beside Iramoo Wildflower Grassland Reserve - home of the Striped Legless Lizard and Button Wrinklewort. The GREEN Lab serves the operational base for the restoration of Iramoo grassland, drawing on the help and enthusiasm of countless volunteers. Come and join the Iramoo story to help maintain The GREEN Lab (including the Native Plant Nursery) and continue the restoration of our remnant native grassland.
Tasks will vary with seasonal and weather conditions and may include:
-Planting wildflowers at Iramoo Grassland Reserve
-Hand-weeding at Iramoo Grassland Reserve
-Potting plants at Iramoo nursery, gardens, or other campus sites
-Collecting seeds at Iramoo nursery
-General maintenance (sweeping, weeding, cleaning) at Iramoo nursery
-Maintaining gardens around The GREEN Lab and campus seed production areas

5Community House Clean up Organisation Help Yarraville Community CentreThis project may involve painting the outdoor community pantry (weather permitting), along with weeding and planting summer herbs in planters. If outdoor work is not possible, volunteers will support an indoor project such as assisting the Nourish kitchen or contributing to another community outreach program.Help refresh and organise our community kitchen by:

6Community walks with V4U VolliesCommunity bonding Doutta Galla Aged ServicesThis project will involve packing Christmas gifts in the morning, followed by community walks in the afternoon. Volunteers will help take residents for a walk around the community, creating a festive and social experience that spreads joy and connection during the holiday season.Make a difference in residents’ day by:

-Walking alongside them as a friendly buddy
-Offering support to those using walking frames or other aids
-Helping to push residents in wheelchairs so everyone can join in comfortably

7Bluestone Toy Library SupportOrganisation HelpBlustone Toy Library SupportThe Bluestone Toy Library is a vital part of our community development program, offering local families access to quality toys to borrow and opportunities to connect with other children and parents. The project promotes sustainability, supports learning through play, and strengthens community connections. Volunteers will assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the Toy Library and the Bluestone Club, a connected craft program for families.Volunteers will support the Toy Library and Bluestone Club by:

-Labelling and organising toy storage to keep items in good condition
-Cleaning toys and wiping down shelving/storage areas to ensure safety
-Assisting with stocktake of toys and documenting any missing parts
-Creating signage and labels for toy categories (e.g., baby toys, puzzles, STEM, vehicles)
-Reviewing and organising Messy Play equipment for community events
-Helping create recycled play items (e.g., cardboard “box city”) and craft templates
-Supporting the Bluestone Family Craft Club by restocking and relabelling craft supplies
-Deep cleaning and stocktaking the community kitchen and libraries
-Assisting with light office/admin tasks (e.g., shredding, laminating, digitising resources).

20Plastic Solution ProjectArts & CraftsEnactus VUThe Plastic Solutions Project is a student-led social enterprise with the mission of reducing plastic waste on campus at Victoria University. We are collecting plastic bottle caps from campus cafes, staff, students and community houses, and recycling them into new products.Join us in making a positive impact through hands-on activities. Volunteers will:
-Encourage participants to collect and bring along plastic bottle caps during the event
-Assist in removing any non-recyclable items from collected materials
-Help sort plastics into different types and colours
-Support the shredding of plastics into small pieces
-Contribute to creating recycled plastic merchandise (with participants able to take one home as a keepsake)
