| 21st Century Stewardship Requirement | Hi! I was looking at degree requirements and see that WF no longer requires course in Cultural Diversity or Quantitative Reasoning but rather now requires four courses as part of its 21st Century Stewardship Requirement (21CSR). Can you say more about that and when will you release courses with the course codes for 21CSR? | Someone has done their research ;) Yes, it’s true that CD & QR are no longer required for WFU students entering in Fall 2025 and have been replaced by the 21 CS requirements. Because these 21 CS requirements can be section-specific (e.g., WGS 150, section B), there will not be a comprehensive list of courses that meet this requirement. However, there is a feature in Workday when searching for courses that allows students to search by “Course Tags.” For example, typing “Ethical Inquiry” into that box will generate courses that meet the EI requirement for 21 CS. The videos included on this page walk students through how to search for courses in Workday and really utilize features to narrow down their search results. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| 21st Century Stewardship Requirement | so the 21st century stewardship classes are required for all wake students correct? and they finish these within the four years and not all as a freshman or sophomore? | That’s correct; they’re required for all WFU students, and it’s important to complete them before graduation. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Academic advising | Can students set up a 1-1 advising session to help with making schedules? | Yes, of course. We recommend attending a virtual advising session first and/or reviewing the slides from that presentation linked here if possible. You may reach us at undergraduateadvising@wfu.edu or call us at 336.758.3320 to schedule something! | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Academic advising | When will we be assigned an academic advisor? | Lower Division Advisors are assigned in August. You will find out who they are (as well as your Student Advisor) just prior to your arrival on campus. If you have specific advising questions about registration, you can always contact the Office of Academic Advising at undergraduateadvising@wfu.edu | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Academic advising | It appears that yesterday (June 23) was a deadline for incoming first year students to submit a Summer Advising Registration Form. If a student didn't timely submit that form by yesterday's deadline, what do you recommend? What is the impact of missing that deadline? | I would advise the student review the Summer Advising slides on this page; a recorded version of one of these sessions will be added to that same page soon after June 30th, so all the information covered is equally accessible to every incoming student in advance of registration. Those who already attended one of these do not have an advantage over students who have not. Moreover, any student may contact OAA via email (undergraduateadvising@wfu.edu) or phone (336.758.3320) with questions. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Academic advising | When is your academic advisor assigned to you? | They will be assigned to you in August, and you'll receive information about how to verify who they are in Workday later this summer. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Academic advising (bio and chem) | Hi! I was just wondering is it advisable to take Chem 111 and Bio 160 during the fall semester if I plan on being pre-med? | It really depends. I would advise calling our office at 336.758.3320 during business hours to talk through whether or not that’s in your best interest. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Advising group | what is the advising group? | Every first-year student will be assigned to an advising group, which is typically 10 first-year students, a student advisor to help guide you during orientation/New Deac Week, and a Lower Division Advisor, typically a faculty member (but occasionally a staff member) who helps guide you through your first 3 semesters until you declare your major, usually in spring of sophomore year. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| ALEKS PPL | Am I able to take the ALEKS math test tomorrow, the day of the deadline? Can I take it after the deadline, even if I don't end up sending my AP scores? | You can take it tomorrow or after tomorrow; it’s not going to close. If you're waiting on AP scores for calculus and/or chemistry, you can wait to take ALEKS PPL until after you receive those scores, and you'll only need to take it if you don't earn qualifying scores on those exams. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL | Is the ALEKS PPL math and chem only one exam? On the website it is only coming up as one exam. Also, do you still have to do practice if you got above an 80 on the math exam because it is still making me do practice? | Yes, it’s only one exam. You want to work toward a score of 80 for Math and a score of 50 for Chemistry. I would advise emailing Dr. Lynne Yengulalp (yengull@wfu.edu) about your math situation. I'm surprised you're being asked to continue working in modules even after earning a score of 80. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL | After completing the ALEKS placement exam, do we get confirmation that we have completed the exam? I'm concerned that it wasn't recorded that I completed this - how can I confirm? | I would email Dr. Lynne Yengulalp (yengull@wfu.edu) to confirm that you completed ALEKS PPL. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL | If I didn't take AP Chem in high school, but will be majoring in biology, should I take the ALEKS PPL chem placement test? | If you plan to take Chem 111, you should take ALEKS PPL. I believe Biology requires Chem 111, but you can check the Departmental Course Guide to see what Bio majors must have | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| ALEKS PPL | Once I complete the ALEKS placement exam and receive my results will Wake know that I completed the exam? | I would check with Dr. Yengulalp (yengull@wfu.edu) about how that works. I haven't been able to see scores in Workday, so it may just pop up on your screen after you complete the assessment, or you may get an email. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL | If a student scored above a 80 on the ALEKS PPL is the optional MTH 105L still recommended? | It really depends. It’s not required, but I would advise contacting Dr. Lynne Yengulalp for advice (yengull@wfu.edu). | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL | I see that there are retakes available for the ALEKS placement exam. Should I take the test again if I'm unhappy with my score? | Yes, absolutely! Keep working in those modules until you earn at least an 80 for math or at least a 50 for chemistry. You got this :) | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL for Math | If I already took the math placement test, how do I see which class is recommended for me to take next year? | If you took ALEKS PPL and received a score of 80, MTH 111 is the course that you would likely want to register for. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL for Math | what do I do if I got a 91 on the math placement test? | You celebrate! And you plan to register for MTH 111 this fall if that’s part of your academic plan :) | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL for Math | If I took the ALEKS do I have to get an 80 for math or is it just recommended? | The score of 80 is a recommendation to gauge your readiness for calculus. An 80 will not place you into - or bar you from - MTH 111. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| ALEKS PPL Math and Chem assessment | Hello! I wanted to know if I had to complete the CHM 111 pre assessment if I don't plan on taking a chemistry course | ALEX PPL is meant for students enrolling in MTH 111 and/or CHM 111. If you do not plan on taking those classes, you do not need to take that. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| AP Credits | How to switch AP credits? through Email? How do we know what specific courses that the particular AP credits can switch? | Students may forfeit AP/IB credit to repeat courses at Wake Forest; however, the Office of Academic Advising does not encourage this. Students worked hard for that credit, and departments vetted those courses as equivalent WFU classes, which also means they vetted that high school experience as adequately preparing students for the class that comes next. If a student wants to forfeit AP/IB credit, they may use this form on the Office of the University Registrar’s website. It’s very important to note that once AP credit is forfeited, it can never be reinstated for any reason. Earning AP/IB credit also does not guarantee earning a grade of “A” in that course at Wake Forest. This chart explains which scores earn credit for a WFU class | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP scores | Can I wait to submit all my AP scores including previous years until the new scores are released on July 7th? | You can; however, I'm a big fan of submitting those sooner rather than later in the hopes any qualifying credit can be added to your academic record before registration. Otherwise, you might be in a position where you need to submit prerequisite overrides in Workday. This isn't a bad thing; it’s just an extra step you'll have to complete to register for certain courses, and submitting those scores from previous years now may allow you to circumvent that extra step. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP scores | Is there somewhere we can look to confirm that the school has received our official AP/ACT scores? | You would want to contact University Admissions to verify if those things have been received: 336.758.5201. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP Scores and ALEKS PPL | Hello, thank you for the warm welcomes! I also have a question for CHM 111 pre assessment. If we took AP chem this year, should we do the pre assessment because we do not have any scores yet. | Excellent question! While students planning to take CHM 111/L and/or MTH 111 in their first year should take ALEKS PP, we understand that many of you may be waiting on AP/IB scores. Go ahead and wait! If you do not receive a qualifying score to earn credit, you can still take ALEKS PPL after June 25th (but before registration). | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP Scores and ALEKS PPL | Does everyone have to take the math placement test? What about if my child is waiting on AP Calc results - can that be used for placement? | Lots of students are in that situation, and we’re advising them to wait for their scores. If they get a qualifying score, they don't need to take ALEKS PPL. If they don’t get a qualifying score, they can still take ALEKS PPL, even if it’s after June 25th. This chart confirms which scores earn credit at Wake Forest | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP Scores and ALEKS PPL | If you earn a qualifying AP Calc score but chose not to use the credits, should I still take the ALEKS PPL? | If you forfeit your AP Calc score, you would need to take the ALEKS PPL. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| AP Scores and ALEKS PPL | Hi! I am confused about ALEX PPL Maths placement test. I’m awaiting for my AP Calculus BC score but I have already taken the placement for MATHs for one time. I wanted to know must I reach a score of 80 or higher before the beginning of the semester if I’m not sure whether to take MTH111 or use the AP scores to switch credits? | You do not have to reach a score of 80 before the semester starts. The score of 80 doesn’t place you into - nor does it bar you from - taking MTH 111. It’s just a tool to determine your readiness for calculus and areas that may need a bit more “fine tuning.” My office encourages students to keep their hard-earned AP credit. The academic department vetted that credit as meeting the equivalent of a WFU course, and that’s their way of saying you’re ready for whatever course in their department comes next. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP Scores and ALEKS PPL and Foreign Language requirement | I might be a little late in asking this, but should I wait until I receive all my AP scores before taking the Math and Chemistry ALEKS assessments? Also, should I wait for my AP Chinese Language and Culture score to see if I’ve fulfilled the language requirement before taking the Foreign Language Placement Test? | Yes, definitely wait! ALEKS PPL and the FLPT will remain open, and you can take them after you get your scores if you need to. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| AP Scores and Foreign Language requirement | I took AP Spanish this year, but I am not sure if I did well enough to have it count. Should I take the language placement test? | I would wait for your score, check this chart to see if you earned credit, and if not, you can take the FLPT then. It will remain open after July 1. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Athletics | My daughter has to arrive early, as an athlete, on August 12th. Will she be housed with another athlete? | There is a chance of that...some of our athletes will be housed together (as we work in coordination with Athletics) however some are housed with other first year students so it truly depends. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Athletics | Ah okay, thank you! We were just wondering if there was an athlete dorm, per se. | no we don't have a specific athlete residence hall on our campus. Our athletes are dispersed within all of our residential communities to ensure they also get the true first year experience as well. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Athletics | How does ticketing work for football games? | you can visit godeacs.com and check out the ticket link (not sure if you meant student tickets or parent/family tickets) | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Business School admission | Does taking MTH 111 v. MTH 112 influence admission to the School of Business? | MTH 111 is a required for admission to the School of Business. MTH 112 is only required for the Decision Analytics major in the School of Business, and MTH 111 is the prerequisite for MTH 112. More information about what’s required for these programs may be found here | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Business School admission | This is a more specifc question that may need to be directed directly to the business school, but I noticed that there is a note at the bottom of the business school department course guide that says, “While AP and IB credit can be used for the purpose of admission, please be advised that it does not add value to one's prerequisite GPA.” How does this factor into the business school application? Is it recommended to take MTH 111/112 even if you have recieved credit from AP Calc in high school? | That is a great question, and I will defer to my colleagues’ expertise and recommendation in the School of Business. In my experience, it’s best for students to check with that program directly, and helpful contact information for that conversation may be found here | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| CHM 111 and pre-heath | for pre-health students the chm11/l is better to take than the math? or both? | CHM 111/L is the only course pre-health students need to prioritize in their first semester. Specific majors (like those for Math) may require and/or benefit from courses like MTH 111 in the first semester, but that really depends on a student’s unique situation. If contacting OAA would help, we can be reached by email (undergraduateadvising@wfu.edu) or phone (336.758.3320). | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| CHM 111 credit | Hi! If I have the CHM 111 credit is it recommended to still take CHM 111 in the fall or do students typically jump to CHM 123? I am worried that Honors organic chem may be too hard first semester, but I am not sure what the norm is at wake forest. | Hello! Great question! If you have CHM 111 credit, my office advises keeping that credit. You worked hard for it, and the CHM department wouldn’t accept that credit if they didn’t feel the course was equivalent to CHM 111 and able to prepare you for CHM 123/L. Moreover, CHM 123/L is only available to students who earn a 4/5 on AP CHM or a 6/7 on IB *higher level* CHM during the fall of their first year. It’s a once in-a-Wake-time ;) opportunity. If you’re feeling nervous about jumping into CHM 123/L, please feel free to email Dr. John Tomlinson for more advice (tomlinjt@wfu.edu). | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Clifton Strengths | what are Clifton Strengths? | The CliftonStrengths assessment is a performance-based assessment that helps individuals discover their top five strengths. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Clifton Strengths | will students complete Clifton Strengths prior to move in? | Yes, they will get an email prior to arriving on campus. | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Club sports | Can you talk a little bit about club sports offered at Wake and when will students have the opportunity to tryout/sign up? | See more on Intramural and Club sports | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Club sports | Does Wake have club sports in addition to intramurals? | You will have the opportunity to hear more about this on September 2nd from 3:30 - 6 pm: Fall Involvement Fair - Poteat Field. See more on Intramural and Club sports | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Club sports | Does Wake have club sports in addition to intramurals? | yes - Wake Forest has a robust club sports program | Minta McNally, Family Engagement
| Curriculum requirements | What classes are required for your first year? | Courses students should start (and work to complete) in their first year include FYS 100, WRI 111 (or WRI 109 in the fall followed by WRI 110 in the spring), a language course to start working toward the 200-level graduation requirement, and HES 100. Divisionals, which can double as ways to explore intended majors/minors, etc., can also be worked into that first year. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Declaring a major | Is there any advantages to declaring a major as early as possible? | Students cannot declare a major until they have earned a specific # of credits at Wake; typically that falls at beginning of sophomore spring. Even though they can't formally declare, if they know what they want to major in, they can look at those Departmental Course Guides referenced by Maggie and start taking the courses that pertain to that major if possible | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Dual Enrollment credits | Hello, if I did duel enrollment and graduated with my AA degree in Valencia college will I have to take any of the pre assessments for certain classes? I also wanted to know if those credits counted towards the batchelor | I would review this information to see if your DE credit meets the requirements for transferring to Wake Forest. You are welcome to contact the Office of the University Registrar (registrar@wfu.edu) with questions specific to the DE process. I would go ahead and complete any assessments since it’s currently unclear how your credits may (or may not) transfer over. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Dual Enrollment credits | Do you have any idea on when rewarded credit from dual credit courses will be announced/posted? | That credit is received and articulated by the Office of the University Registrar, so I would email them for an update (registrar@wfu.edu). In the meantime, it’s important to note that you can see any credit that’s been awarded by doing the following: go to Workday> View Profile > Academics > Transfer Credit. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Dual Enrollment credits | Hello, if I did duel enrolled classes such as MAC 1105 or BSC 1010c at an accredited college would I need to take any placement exams? | You will need to review the information here to determine if those courses are eligible to transfer to Wake Forest. You may email registrar@wfu.edu with questions about this as there is no comprehensive list of courses that are approved to transfer to Wake. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Food allergies/Housing and Dining Accommodations | If your child have serval server food allergies that include airborne ones can they get housing and dinning accommodation | If you go on our website, rlh.wfu.edu, there is a link for the disability-related housing and dining accommodations fill that info out. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Foreign Language Placement Test | Hi! I did not take AP Spanish. But would I be able to fill the language requirement if I get a good score on the placement test? | You can see more at this website | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Foreign Language requirement | For the Spanish requirement can you explain what occurs if you do not place well? How many semesters of Spanish would you have to take to meet the requirement before the 200 level class? | There are typically 4 classes to complete if you are placed into the very first level of a foreign language series. I was a French major, but I believe it is 111, 112, 153, and 212. There is also a class that is a combo of 111 and 112 (113). So anywhere between 1-4 semesters of foreign language is possible. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Guidebook/New Deac Week app | When I recieved the New Deac Week email earlier today, the password that I was given did not work. Who should I reach out to in order to fix the issue? Thank you! | Email orientation@wfu.edu for assistance. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Guidebook/New Deac Week app | Who should I reach out to if I am struggling to log-in to the New Deac Week Welcome App? | orientation@wfu.edu | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Housing | what is the website that has the link to the various residences with the measurements etc? | rlh.wfu.edu | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Housing | Do you find out which dorm you live in before your roommate or all at once? | you will find out which residence hall you're in, in the middle of July everyone will find out then. You won't find out your roommate information until the end of July but everyone will get the info at the same time. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Housing | What date do we find out roomates and what date do we get residence assignments? sorry if you already said this! | mid July for the residence hall and end of July for the roommate information | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Housing | When will I be notified of housing accommodation request approvals? | it depends on when you submit your accommodation request...the committee meets pretty regularly and they communicate quickly once they have a meeting and a decision is made | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Housing | During an on campus visit, I was told that I was tall enough to request a XXL bed which does not fit in some of the residence housing. Is there someone to email to make sure I recieve this XXL bed or should I just submit the health forms and I will be assigned an XXL bed | send an email to our office housing@wfu.edu...we will check and see what info Deacon Health has on file for you and if you meet the requirements we will make the modifications on our end. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Immunization requirement and July 1 deadline to upload | What will happen if students are not able to complete their health information and immunization forms by July 1st? | If students do not have immunization forms completed and cleared by July 1 they will have to put a plan in place to complete them with our Deacon Health team. This could hold up your registration or the ability to move in to your residence hall until resolved. | Warrenetta Mann, Health and Wellbeing
| Immunization requirement and July 1 deadline to upload | Will students still be able to register for classes on July 16th even if they have not complete their health information and immunization forms by July 1st? | Dr. Mann had answered this in an earlier Q&A "If students do not have immunization forms completed and cleared by July 1 they will have to put a plan in place to complete them with our Deacon Health team. This could hold up your registration or the ability to move in to your residence hall until resolved." | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Immunization requirement and July 1 deadline to upload | After putting in the manual dates for immunizations, can we upload the signed certifiate of immunization from our doctor’s office or do we need to have the doctor use the immunization form from Wake? | This is what it says on the immunization page of Deacon Health: You will fill out the dates for the coordinating immunizations (in dd/mm/yyyy format) and submit your documentation. Immunization records should have a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant signature as well as the clinic’s address, phone number, and facility stamp or official government stamp. You will need to upload your immunization record as a PDF so that Deacon Health can verify the healthcare provider’s signature(s) | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Immunization requirement and July 1 deadline to upload | Is there a way to contact the Health Office if there is an issue with getting a signed copy of the immunization records? | You would want to contact Deacon Health to discuss: 336.758.5218 deaconhealth@wfu.edu | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Mailing items to campus | A couple days before move in day are we able to send items directly to wake forest (ex mattress and covers)? | Once you find out the mailbox info for you/your student you can send items to the mailroom you will just need to go there and pick it up during their open hours (check their website). One note, we have a mattress for you so no need to send one of those :) | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Medical School | Are wake forest students guaranteed a spot in the wake forest university med school? | I do not believe so (certainly there would be some students who do not have the requisite grades or courses). There is an Early Assurance program for exceptionally qualified students The pre-health website is a great resource for all questions about pre-health professions | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| MTH 111 | Is MTH 111 required for first years? | No! Students need to take at least 2 classes from 2 different departments in our Math and Natural Sciences division | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Onboarding tasks in Workday | How exactly do you complete the Missing Person Contact information for our onboarding tasks on workday? | Take a look at the Onboarding Tasks job aid here and see if that gives you what you need You may need to be logged in to your WFU email to be able to access this, as it is meant just for students | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Onboarding tasks in Workday | can you provide some information on how to complete the "Update SSN or ITIN" task on workday? | If this is part of new student onboarding in Workday, this jobaid helps with that process: (students may need to be logged in to their WFU email address to access this, as it is meant just for students) | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications

| Parking registration | When will parking passes be available? | I believe that is on the New Student CHecklist - typically it is early August. But check newstudents.wfu.edu and look for the First Year (or Transfer if applicable) checklist | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Pre-health student fall schedule | How is pairing math/chem with FYS 100, WRI111 or 109/110, HES 100, and the language during the first semester if available or if able to do? Or just during the first year? Especially for pre-health students | That should be very doable. Most pre-health students will have a fall schedule that consists of CHM 111/L (which also counts as a divisional), FYS 100 or WRI, a language course, another divisional of their choice, and HES 100. That same student will likely take the next CHM and perhaps add on a BIO class in the spring semester. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Pre-Orientation Programs | When will more information come out on pre orientation programs from the specific groups we are placed in? | Additional information from Pre-Orientation Coordinators will likely be provided following our June 30th deadline for applications. Keep checking your WFU email address regularly. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | Do pre Orentation student need to notify housing about their early move in? | No you do not need to notify them. Orientation will provide that information to Residence Life and Housing. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | My son is doing Wilderness at Wake. Do you recommend that we move him in on the 15th or should we wait to move him in with the larger group on the 20th? We will be traveling from afar and can only come to one or the other. In my mind the pro of waiting til the 20th is that we could stay for some of the Orientation activities for parents. | My $0.02 (as a college mom myself) is that there is not a right or wrong, just what is right for YOUR family. So I would have that conversation with your son and see what he thinks he needs - will it be more helpful to have you move him in fully and then leave, vs. move him in with bare necessities and you return on the 20th with the rest of the stuff. We of course encourage families to stay for the parent and family orientation if they can, but we know not all families have that option. So if you can't attend, you may want to sign up for the Daily Deac (dailydeac.wfu.edu) so you can get a daily dose of news and tips, and have a direct line to me if you have questions. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Pre-Orientation Programs | Will all the pre-orientation students be together at times, even if they are in different pre-o programs or are they kept separate? | Each Pre-Orientation program will have its own unique schedule and programming. Some go off campus, others remain on campus. At times there are overlaps with evening programming that allows students to connect with others participating in other programs happening on campus. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | Can you share how many stuents are enrolled in each of the pre-o programs? | Programs range in size from 25 students to over 100 students. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | Is there a way to find our exact Pre-Orientation program schedule? | Our Pre-Orientation Coordinators are still working to finalize their schedules based on registration totals. You will hear more information in July. Be prepared to know that most programs are full days, but provide great ways to connect | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | When more info is sent out on pre orientation will they tell us the other incoming students in our group? | When your Pre-Orientation program begins. We don't share student information widely. | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | What do students do for meals during pre-orientation programs? | Each Pre-Orientation program will handle meals that occur during Pre-Orientation. You will not be utilizing your meal plan that is utilized for the school year. We do encourage students, parents and families to purchase snacks and items to have in their room in the event they require additional food. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | is there a way to check that we paid for the preorientation program? | Email us at orientation@wfu.edu and we can check to see. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | If you are on the waitlist for pre-oreintation what are the odds you will add more ppl or a second session? | It depends on the program as each has their own unique capacity for students. If something becomes available we will work to notify those students about their options (even if they have already paid for their Pre-orientation program). | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | If I’m on the waitlist for a pre-orientation program, when will I hear back? | You will likely hear about waitlists after the close of the application window on June 30th. This allows us to determine the numbers for programs and determine if there is capacity to go to our waitlists. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | Im currently still on the pre-orientation waitlist. When should I expect to hear whether or not I have been approved? | You will likely hear about waitlists after the close of the application window on June 30th. This allows us to determine the numbers for programs and determine if there is capacity to go to our waitlists. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | I was already accepted into a pre-orientation program and paid for it. Am I able to switch to a different program if its capacity increases? | We will only switch a student from another Pre-Orientation if they are already on a waitlist for that program. | Phillip Wogatzke, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs
| Pre-Orientation Programs | If students get a pre-orientation move-in time, will they also get a move-in time on 8/20? | No - if you are doing a Pre-Orientation program, you would be moving in on the day your Pre-Orientation program requires (typically 8/15 or 16) | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Pre-Orientation Programs | You mentioned some pre-orientation programs being extended to more students, does that mean all of them (like Wilderness to Wake)? 87 | Registering for classes in Workday | Good evening, I was wondering if we made a pre-saved schedule in Workday, is there a button we can click to register in each of those classes at once? Or do we have to do that individually? | Great question! When you registration appointment opens, an orange button named “Register” is going to appear underneath your saved schedule. If you click it, it will push through every course from that schedule that is open and able to be registered. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Registering for classes in Workday | Is there a way to see what time of day specific courses are offered to help plan a schedule or avoid conflicts? | Yes, there is! When you’re in Workday searching for courses, you will be able to see the days/times/professors/classroom locations for those courses, etc. and so forth. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Registering for classes in Workday | If we have a saved schedule in Workday and we don't get all of our saved classes and then go to our backup saved schedule how do we only register for our classes where we have gaps in our schedule? | Great question! This is one route you can take, and I would advise creating a preferred saved schedule with your ideal days/times and creating a 2nd preferred saved schedule with different sections of classes at the *same* time so they could slide right into the gaps of your preferred saved schedule. Alternatively, you can use the Find Course Sections report to find 1-2 courses to complete your schedule if that’s easier in the moment. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Registering for classes in Workday | Will we be too late to register for classes if we have yet to make a schedule on Workday or is that more so to plan our desired schedule? | Not at all! You can make a saved schedule tonight or the evening of July 15th. It’s to plan ahead for registration; saved schedules do not guarantee and/or save courses just for you. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Registration (general question) | Are we registering just for FALL, or for FALL and SPRING? | You will register just for FALL courses | Cherise James, Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs

| Registration strategy | Do classes fill up fast? Would you suggest getting registration done in the first hour/day? | All 1500+ students will be registering likely at the same time, so it’s possible things will fill quickly. That’s why it’s so important to be flexible and have lots of good backup plans/saved schedules. I would advise registering as close to 10 am EDT as possible on July 16th, but remember - registration is going to stay open until August 10th, and things will fluctuate during that time. What’s available on July 16th at 1 pm EDT may look very different from what's available on August 10th at 11:30 am EDT. Moreover, you’ll have the drop/add period after classes start to make changes :) | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Registration strategy | following up on the question about registering from a saved schedule, if one or more classes are full when I try to register from my saved schedule, do I then go back in and register for additional classes one by one? | That’s what I would advise, yes. Lots of students do this, or they move onto their next saved schedule, which likely has different sections of the classes that were in their first preferred schedule. | Maggie Sheridan, Academic Advising
| Roommates | How do you set up Roommates by advisor if have not picked major? Are residences or advisors picked by what major you selected on the common app application? | Some classes have 'course based advising', which means the faculty member is also going to advise most or all of that class. We also try to create community by creating advising groups based on which residential community they live in | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Roommates | Hey! This quesiton is from way earlier- but when we find out our roomate how will we connect with them? (email, number etc.) Just curious! | you will get their email info | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Roommates | When do i find out who my roomate is? | At the end of July you will receive this info. | Stephanie Carter-Atkins, Residence Life and Housing
| Shuttles on move-in days | Does Wake offer shuttle to the campus in move-in day? | There will be a shuttle that runs between the check in location (LJVM Coliseum) and drops off at the Shuttle Hub on campus (near the Quad) for specific hours of the days new students are moving in. Those details are being worked out now, and will be ready by early part of August. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Student checklist | How do we know if all the steps are completed on the checklist. My student did them but it does not show a way to see if it is complete. | Students can/should be checking their WFU emails regularly; often if there is something important that is missing, an office will be reaching out to the student. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications
| Student organizations | Is there a guitar club for beginners? | The Link is our student engagement platform and you will be able to learn a lot more about all our student organizations at the start of school. There will be an Involvement Fair on Tuesday 9/2 and you can see all our organizations and sign up for ones that interest you. | Betsy Chapman, Family Communications |
