The challenge of building long-term value for stakeholders alongside embracing economic, social and environmental risks and opportunities is of growing significance on the corporate governance agenda. Delivering on this challenge requires a fresh mind set and a toolkit of professional and research-inspired knowledge and skills. This specialist Masters aims to equip you with essential theoretical and evidential foundations and to develop relevant practical and professional skills from which you can build or accelerate a career in the field of corporate sustainability. You will have the opportunity to combine the study of sustainability-driven business models, techniques and tools with legal, ethical, financial, governance, accountability, marketing and organisational aspects. You will also develop a broad range of transferable skills, including team leadership and team working, analytical and problem solving and ethical decision-making. You will learn first hand about the challenges of developing and implementing corporate sustainability programmes through exchanges with leading practitioners in the field and undertake a broad range of individual and team-based exercises to build competencies relevant to future careers in, for example, environmental management, sustainability consultancy, think tanks and governmental organisations.

 The programme has four compulsory themes: Corporate Sustainability, Business and the Environment, Environmental Impact Assessment and Research Methods. These themes will allow students from any background to understand all the areas in the multidisciplnary programme. Additional optional modules will allow students to specialise and build on these foundations. Our online Skills Hub provides you with guidance, activities and resources that will allow you to develop generic skills in your own time.

This will ensure that when you graduate you are ready to effectively apply these tools in a work-based setting; b. A key feature of this programme is that it offers student the option to undertake a dissertation with an external organisation. We are a research-active department and share our latest research findings and methods with you through our teaching. Throughout your studies you will be actively involved in designing and undertaking individual and group research projects linked to the challenges of corporate sustainability. All of our courses include examples of current research that allow you to see how the theory and knowledge you have been taught in lectures apply in a range of national and international settings. Through seminars you will gain experience in discussing cutting-edge business practices and develop key communication skills. Lectures are supplemented by guest speakers from leading business and environmental organisations, exposing you to potential areas of future employment throughout your studies.
