NOTE#
School Competition Leader: Please read these notes carefully. Only properly submitted entries can be considered. General info at https://esriurl.com/agoschoolcomp
3
1This tab has important reminders about how to submit entries to the state competition. Schools must submit entries to the state using this spreadsheet.
4
2The "School to State Entries" tab is what schools need to fill out and send to the state. All cells in a row with an entry must be completed.
5
3Contents in yellow columns A-L of "School to State Entries" tab will be unique for each row of 5 entries. Contents in blue columns M-W will be the same for each row of 5 entries.
6
4An example entry is provided as "School entry# 0" in the pink row. Your entries should match this format.
7
5Each school is permitted a maximum of 5 entries (total, across both HS+MS) to the state level competition. If more are submitted, only entries 1-5 will be considered.
8
6This event calls students in grades 9-12 "HS" and students in grades 4-8 "MS". In "Entry Level" (column C) enter the highest level student in this entry.
9
7In "STU# name" (columns E and H), indicate whether a student's name used will be "real" or "generic". (This helps minimize personally identifiable info. See the "PII" tab.)
10
8Only real names may be submitted as state nominees to the national competition, but generic names may be used in state competition and may be recognized as award winners.
11
9
If submitting "generic names," use the format "[ST]_[SchoolName]_[EntryNumber]" (and append "a" and "b" if the entry is from 2 students), e.g. "MN_MercatorHS_1a" and "MN_MercatorHS_1b".
12
10Columns K-L are for hyperlink entries for the "Item Details" page and the actual StoryMap. Both should be in shortURL format, "https://arcg.is/1a2b3c4d".
13
11ShortURLs of the proper format can be created easily. See item "Results/V/5" at "https://esriurl.com/agoschoolcomp".
14
12Find LAT/LONG in decimal degree in an AGO map via the Measure tool (set to "Location") and moving the mouse to show the desired spot. (Or see https://arcg.is/1D9vMBe.)
15
13In Rows 10 and 11, in Column A, input the total number of submissions received and considered by the school at HS and at MS levels. (Either or both numbers may exceed 5.)
16

16More info about the Arkansas Map Competition is available at http://bit.ly/ARMapContest.
19
If the school submits real names or other personally identifiable information of any students, the school must obtain written consent from the student (or the student's parent if the student is a minor) to transfer that information to Esri for the purposes of evaulating and processing entries, selecting winners, and contacting students, schools, and sponsors for purposes related to the contest. See the "PERMISSION AND RELEASE FORM," which addresses content, authorship, permissions, and student name, words, and likeness, in case of selection as awardee.
