Ride Marshal 9am - 12pm

Description: TC is coordinating a 4.94-mile bike ride along proposed bicycle routes in their city's Master Bicycle Plan. The local Sherriffs will provide rolling soft closures of major intersections. Ride Marshals will be responsible for chaparoning the ride by maintaining a family-friendly pace, ensure participants remain in designated lanes, maintain a positive and lively attitude, provide encouragement and motivation to all riders and reduce the overall "slinky" effect. Check-in time @ 9am, Ride departure @ 10am, Ride completion @ 12pm. Please review route and assigned regroup stops prior to arrival.

Bike Rodeo & Obstacle Course

Description: Youth under the age of 9 will be granted an opportunity to learn the basics of cycling by participating in a bike rodeo. A bike rodeo is a safe, enclosed area with simple obstacles where youth will learn to balance, shift gears, make hand signals, stop and go, maneuver in tight spaces, and reverse. Bike Rodeo volunteers will be responsible for walking along side each participating youth to assist them in completing the obstacle course while providing encouragement and creating a fun learning atmosphere. Volunteers must also ensure that youth accomplish each activity prior to advancing. Check-in @ 11am, Bike Rodeo @ 12pm -2pm.

Information Booth

Description: BikeSGV will coordinate an information booth to disseminate information about BikeSGV efforts throughout San Gabriel Valley. Volunteers will be responsible for engaging residents in diaolgue about creating a more bike-friendly and sustainable community while obtaining basic contact information. Outgoing, friendly and active listening is a plus! Volunteers with knowledge about sustainable community innitiatives and BikeSGV projects is preferred. Shift 1: 9am-12pm, Shift 2: 12pm - 3pm.

Bike Valet & Parking

Description: Bike valet & safe parking accomodations will be offered to all participants until capacity has been met. Volunteers will be responsible for checking in bicycles which consists of obtaining basic contact information, bicycle description, and ensuring participants read, acknowledge and sign the release of liabitity waiver. Each bike will be issued a numbered ticket then ushered to a safe, enclosed bike parking facility. Volunteers will also be responsible for retrieving bicycles upon request. Shift 1: 9am-12pm, Shift 2: 12pm-3pm.

Fix-a-Flat Time Trials

Description: Fix-a-flat time trials is a friendly-competetive activity. There will be 3 participant categories; A) Youth: 12 years old or younger B) Teens: ages 13 - 17 years old C) Adults: 18 years old or older. Volunteers will be responsible for demonstrating how to fix-a-flat, timing participants, logging all times, ensuring all participants accomplish the activity. Check-in & instruction brief @ 11am, Activity @ 12pm-2pm.
