EgyptSunnis1ABDULLAH AL-NASRMohamedM2017/02He was charged for contempt of religion.Article 98 (F)2017/025 years2022In November 2016, Mohamed Abdallah Nasr claimed to be the Mahdi (Redeemer), a promised eschatological figure within Islam, which prompted calls for his prosecution and a psychiatric evaluation. Nasr was known for being the Imam of Tahrir Square Friday prayers during the Egyptian Revolution. He rose to popularity after inspiring the start of what is popularly referred to as ‘The Islamic Enlightenment Movement’. Nasr, who is a graduate of Al-Azhar, is well known for his criticism of the curriculum currently taught by Al-Azhar and their refusal to heed President Sisi’s call for reforming the way sheikhs teach religion in Egypt. He claimed that the amputation of hands is not a valid Islamic punishment. Nasr may have been arrested and sentenced to prison for his views.http://bit.ly/2zXgH8L and https://bit.ly/2zFwQiL0100A1889

IranBaha'is1BANDI-AMIRABADIMehranM2019/02/03Yazd2019/02/031 yearYazd prison2020/02/03On 12 January 2019, branch 11 of the appellate court of Yazd province sentenced Mehran Bandi Amirabadi and Mehran Eslami Amirabadi to one year in prison. After an appeal of the sentence issued by branch 3 of the appellate court, the country’s Supreme Court referred the case to branch 11 of the appellate court of Yazd province – a laterally equivalent court – for sentencing. On 1 February 2019, security agents went to Mehran Bandi Amirabadi’s workplace in Yazd, but did not find him there. He was later informed by telephone that he should present himself to prison to begin his 12-month sentence. Neither he nor his lawyer had been informed that he was due to serve his sentence. Mehran Bandi Amirabadi was initially sentenced with Mehran Eslami Amirabadi to 18 months in prison and one year of internal exile. They recently had their sentences reduced to 12 months in prison by the Review Court for Yazd Province. They were among seven Bahais arrested in Yazd in January and February 2017.http://iranpresswatch.org/post/20029/two-yazd-bahais-begin-serving-prison-sentences/, https://sensday.wordpress.com/2019/02/02/mehran-bandi-amirabadi-summoned-to-begin-sentence-in-yazd/0100A4117

IranBaha'isDAMASHQIPaymaanKaraj“propaganda against the regime”2019/09/216 monthsKaraj1905/07/12He was initially summoned in writing by the Police in Karaj in February this year. When he went to the Police station, his mobile telephone was confiscated and he was questioned for half an hour. He was told that he had posted an article entitled “Justice” under the pen-name “A certain Baha’i”, and the use of this name constituted, indirectly, propaganda for the Baha’i Faith. When he asked to see the article attributed to him, the interrogator refused. At first he was sentenced to 1 year but on November 2019 he was setenced to 6 months.
The Judge offered him release on bail of 50 million tumans, but he was not able to pay that amount. Two days later he was released when the business licence of a friend was accepted as bail. On the 19th of September the trial took place and was sentenced on the 21st.
