GENERAL RULES
7
TimingAll times listed are in-game time, which is the time listed by the game after the credits play. Real time is not tracked. The in-game timer counts all time the player has control of Samus. It does not count other time, including elevators, cutscenes, item acquisition text, using the map, pausing, etc.
8
RankingSince the in-game timer only shows hours and minutes, two runs that have the same final in-game time are considered tied. While methods do exist to estimate the number of seconds in a run, these estimates are not used as tiebreakers. Real time is also not used as a tiebreaker.
9
HardwareOnly runs on actual Nintendo hardware (GCN, Wii) are allowed. Emulators such as Dolphin are banned as the loader is inaccurate, which results in a significantly faster real time and in-game time. USB loaders are also not allowed. The Trilogy Version on the Wii is not considered the same game as the main three games so times using this version are not tracked here.
10
GameplayThere are no restrictions on actual gameplay. Any and all sequence breaks and glitches are allowed (and encouraged), provided that the category definition is still completed. This includes out-of-bounds movement. See the note in the Echoes section about the Item-Loss Skip (ILS) glitch in the 100% category.

12
CATEGORIES
13
Any%Beat the game using any route and collecting any amount of items.
14
100%Beat the game while collecting all 100 items. This does not include scans as the final in-game percentage does not include them. Some upgrades can be cloned in Echoes and Corruption, and this is allowed, but the duped upgrades cannot replace another item. All 100 original items still must be collected. Items that do not count towards the in-game percentage tracker, such as Dark Temple Keys in Echoes, are not part of the definition.
15
Low%Beat the game while collecting the fewest number of items possible. The current lowest possible percentages for this category for Prime, Echoes, and Corruption are 21%, 4%, and 15%, respectively.
16
More information about Low% can be found here. (Pastebin)
17
Single- Segment (SS)Beat the game from start to finish in one sitting without dying or reloading a save. If you die or reload a save, the run becomes a segmented run. Pauses of any length are allowed during the run (though discouraged).
18
SegmentedSegmented: Beat the game from start to finish. Reloading saves are allowed.
19
NormalNormal Mode: beat the game using the normal difficulty settings.
20
HardHard Mode: beat the game using the hard difficulty settings. In general, in this mode your weapons will do less damage and you will take more damage.
21
NTSCNTSC: beat the game on the North American version.
22
PALPAL: beat the game on the European version.
23
TrilogyThe leaderboards for the Trilogy Version can be found here.
24
25
METROID PRIME (2002)
26
Version DifferencesThe consensus best version to run on is the NTSC 0-00 version since all of the sequence breaks and glitches are possible in it. Due to the differences in routing between NTSC and PAL, they are considered separate categories.
27
To see which version you have, look here.
28
100% DefinitionAll 100 items must be obtained. Scans do not count towards 100%.
29
Frigate EscapeThe Frigate Escape category is timed by looking at the time displayed on the last frame of the escape before the cutscene begins.
30
Video RequirementsVideo proof of the entire run is required for all Any% runs faster than 1:10 and all 100% runs faster than 1:30. Video is required for all single-segment 21% runs, and for segmented 21% runs faster than 3:00.
31
32
METROID PRIME 2: ECHOES (2004)
33
Version DifferencesThere are no significant differences between the NTSC and PAL versions, so they are not considered separate categories.
34
100% DefinitionDuping items is allowed, but all 100 original items must be obtained. Item-Loss Skip (ILS) is currently not allowed in 100% because doing it makes one of the missile expansions permanently unobtainable. Temple keys do not count towards 100%. Scans do not count towards 100%.
35
6% Definition6%, or "Low% collection," involves beating the game while collecting the fewest total number of items, including items that are lost to the item loss cutscene.
36
4% Definition4%, or "Low% completion," involves beating the game with the lowest possible percent showing on the Mission Final screen. This involves delaying the item loss until after collecting some items.
37
10% Definition10%, or "Low% no item loss," involves beating the game with the lowest possible percent without making use of ILS.
38
39
METROID PRIME 3: CORRUPTION (2007)
40
Version DifferencesThe NTSC version is faster than the PAL version by a few minutes. They are shown on the same sheets here due to the low volume of runs compared to the other two games.
41
100% DefinitionDuping items is allowed, but all 100 original items must be obtained. Scans do not count towards 100%.
42
Nova Beam WallcrawlI don't actually know anything about this trick, but it is essentially a death warp that places you slightly further in the game. Since it can only be done one time, it has been determined to be legal in single-segment runs.
