What is your career stage?Have you, or do you plan to, use preprint servers (e.g., BioRxiv) for your own manuscripts? How likely are you to respond positively to a submission solicitation from a journal based on a preprint you have posted? How long would you be willing to delay submission to a journal after uploading to a preprint server in order to allow time for journals to send solicitations directly to you?Do you see journals soliciting preprints for submission directly from authors as beneficial to the field in general?

Associate ProfessorI have already used preprint servers.Depends on the journal, and what the state of play with the manuscript (and out ambitions for it) are.Not willing to waitFairly neutral. So long as everybody keeps their head and doesn't let an invitation from one journal distract them from their original aims, if they are different, then I don't see a problem. Of course it is the authors' responsibility to inform themselves about journals and their pros and cons, and to avoid falling for predatory publishers.
