1on the skid with the 2 booster pumps, that were installed on a bigger baseplate with the inlet and discharge piping, what do we do with the baseplates? Do we grout the big one AND the two individual pump baseplates? Can we have an OH2 baseplate without grouting?George ParadissisThe two pump individual sub-bases would not require grouting.
The main baseplate could be designed either as a structural steel baseplate, self supporting, non-grout; or as a structure requiring grouting. It is up to you the customer.
8
2Vibration Issues - Do we also make use of vibration isolators ?Shivkumar DalalYes when necessary, which will be particularly necessary on larger more complex skids. Vibration analysis is part of the design process
9
3Is the delivery time increased with respect to ordering pumps only?Thanasis KefaliakosYes it will be longer. The time savings show themselves at site. Bringing in a complete self-contained skid, ready to go, plug-and-play; compared with months and months of site installation component by component
10
4For modular construction, do you have any RPH std. design approach or follow Client specs ?Shivkumar DalalYes we do have our own design standards (which are based on established International Standards). These will be most frequently used on low complexity packages. More complex packages and those for major EPCs, oil & gas companies, major utilities companies and similar, will follow the Standards and Specifications supplied by those companies.
So in short - if you send us specifications we will follow them to the letter; if you don't we will apply our own standards.
11
5API 610 provides vibration limits for shop testing of the pumps. Are there any different vibration limits for pumps operating at site or the same shop test limits apply for site testing as well? Are the vibrations at site expected to be lower or higher compared to shop testing?Niranjan PaiWhen pump companies carry out factory performance tests they are on temporarily rigged structures using flexible pipes and connections, which are far less solid and more flexible than the site installation on the structurally stronger baseplate (skid) with properly supported solid piping. Vibration levels on the site installation (the skid package) will be lower than the vibration levels found on the factory acceptance test.
12
6for diesel engine driven pumps should the torsional analysis be mandatory or is there any limit w.r.t KW rating above which it is mandatory.shreyas apteTorsional analysis is normally required for 3 component drive trains (diesel engine, gearbox, pump).
Or when specified by the customer.
Natural resonant frequency analysis is always necessary and site adjustments might well be necessary.
13
7Good morning, may we get this session?Aurel MaresYes, all attendees will get a link to the You-Tube video recording of this session, a PDF version of the Presentation Slideshow complete with speaker notes, and the compiled Q&A session
14
8Is an API recommended standard for the engineering packaged pumping systems?Aurel MaresNo there is no specific API Standard for packages
15
9Do you perform stress analysis on piping installed on the packages?Thanasis KefaliakosYes we do.
16
10Thank you and well done!Aurel MaresMy pleasure
17
11We have a case during comissioning at site, pump skid will not be anchored and bolted to foundation because the pump is only a temporary pump for supporting plant comissioning purpose. Is that doable? Any concern from pump manufacturer (maybe vibration, etc)?Benedictus AnggaraA temporary structure is likely to show higher vibration levels than a permanent structure.
We would want to look at how the baseplate is secured - presumably some sort of clamping arrangement.
Just having it "floating" is not a good idea.
On the other hand it is only for a few weeks during commissioning so long lasting pump damage is unlikely.
Size of pump is also important. A 5kW pumpset is a bit different from a 500kW pumpset.
18
12If we have any seal plan whether that is mounted on the same package skid?Anonymous AttendeeYes the seal support systems would also be mounted on the overall skid package.

#QuestionAsker NameAnswer
28
13On those pump/piping combination skids. Can/does Ruhrpumpen run stress analysis on the piping/pump flanges?Anonymous AttendeeDetailed anaysis is not necessary on small non-complex packages. Good engineering practice is sufficient.
On larger complex packages it is a "must" and our customers would expect to see it
29
14What is a reasonable timeline to request the mentioned deliverables when bidding a pumping system for corrosive mediums cryo C02, DI Water, NH3-, ect..?Anthonyt FaroleQuotes for non-complex packages can be done in as little as 2 weeks. Complex package quotes (like #5) will take 4-6 weeks
30
15What would be your average lead time for a complex eng.solution (ex. #5 mentioned)? Thank you.Anonymous Attendee15-20 weeks for low complexity systems up to 30-40 for the more complex/large systems...we study industry needs to ensure we stay competitive for our customers
31
16What is the maximum size of single skid can be fit for transportation sea,air frightNallathambi DharmalingamWhere possible we try to stay within standard truck sizes which are 48 ft L , 8 ft W, and 13 ft H. (14.6m x 2.4m x 4m)
When the overall package exceeds this we modularise the package to keep within these dimensions.
32
17Can you offer acoustic enclosures / attenuation with the packaged equipment?Craig SmithYes we can do sound attenuating enclosures. We can also do fire reistant enclosures H60, H120 (resistant to hydrocarbon fires for 60 & 120 minutes). We frequently do these for fire pump packages for platforms and refineries.
33
18When RP supply complete skids are included alignment of the coupling shafts and/or belt pulley system?Oliver ValadezYes our site supervisors present for the installation and commissioning will ensure alignment (among many other checks).
34
19Do you take controls in your scope with these systems? What are some intersting solutions you have provided? Great suit by the wayAnthonyt FaroleYes we do. We have electrical and control specialists in our team so this is certainly an area of expertise for us.
Our dedicated front end quote team actually has mechanical & electrical designers as part of the front end team to allow for complete customization/detail even during the quoting stage
35
20where would the fabrication of the skid and piping be from?Anonymous AttendeeWe are a global company so the assembly and shipment point would be geographically decided. Monterrey, Mexico; Chennai, India; Germany; Egypt; China; UK; Brazil; Argentina
36
21These packages may be build in the closest workshop or only certain ones ?Miguel LopezSee above
37
22Does Ruhrpumpen provides their sub-vendor list within eng. systems proposals? (Ex. instrument supplier, valve supplier....) And accepts suppliers recommendations for specific items?Anonymous AttendeeYes we have a long list of internationally recognised suppliers we use regularly and we have some "preferred suppliers", but we also recognise and respect that many end users have preferred supplier lists as well.
38
23Thank you. Alway enjoy seeing the waistcoat and tie combos!Craig SmithMy image - eccentric (mad?) English Professor! :)
39
24Are your team familiar with CSA (canada) standard? have your team built to CSA z662, B31.3 and B31.1 standard?Anonymous AttendeeYes we are familiar with the referenced Canadian Standards.
In fact our Package Proposal Team is actually based in Canada!
40
25You carry out the design of the dampers and pulsation study for API 674 Pumps?YAMIL MENAYes this is a "must" on all PD pumps (whether part of a package or not)
41
26CSA. CRN. not pleasantAnonymous AttendeeNoted!
42
27Are you confortable quoating N+1 systemsAnthonyt FaroleYes N+1 is we believe the concept of backup modules...yes we can custom build anything like this as needed according to spec requirement
43
28no single point failureAnthonyt FaroleNoted.
44
29do you build pump packages only? do you deal with compressor, or turbine packages?Anonymous AttendeeYes we are happy to work together with suppliers of compressors, steam turbines, generators and other pump suppliers to provide an Engineered Package Solution
45
30Do you have a instrument air compressor package in your product line?Nallathambi DharmalingamWe do not ourselves manufacture instrument air compressors but would work with a supplier to provide a complete Package when required.
46
31thank you as always....good presentationSheldon SolomonMy pleasure. Thank you.
