AI/ Linked dataEx LibrisAI and library ecosystem
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLf5a3rOpg4
Ex Libris is working with a focus group of several academic libraries cataloging open source Sinopia in linked data open source Bibframe formats, sending records into Alma for management and using Primo for discovery. This presentation provides a demo of a linked data discovery expereince with AI features, such as auto-complete, and offers thoughts on the future of linked data and AI together.

See library borrowing options in Google's knowledge graph. EBSCO offers a new product called Bibliograph that does this, but it is unclear what these particular libraries are using. This may be problematic to integrate for academic libraries, since not everyone can use their libraries.

I saw this presentation at ER&L about a browser extension tool that provides information about a library access. Not much published info available, so I pulled a screenshot from the presentation.

Discovery outside of library environmentMichiganLibkey
https://search.lib.umich.edu/articles
Michigan recently launched LibKey Discovery in their local article discovery layer, in addition to the links generated via Primo's APIs. This is a new update so they are still exploring how usage of the LibKey and Primo links compares.

Discovery outside of library environmentSUNY AlbanyLibKeyThis isn't new, but SUNY Albany recently licensed LibKey. In theory, the browser plugin LibKey Nomad will be deployed campus-wide which will help a lot of folks. Third Iron is also in the later stages of developing an enhanced plugin (Nomad++?) that will be even more slick (and more expensive).

Linked dataU of WisconsinCoordinanted discovery
https://search.library.wisc.edu/
We call it "coordinated discovery" under the hood, with the idea that all our resources (catalog, digital collections, journal subscriptions, databases, finding aids, etc.) are discoverable from a single common interface. We're slowly but surely inking resources together, so that a search in one part of our collections will also provide you with links to similar or the same resource in other parts of our collections.

Our digital collections use Fedora 3 under the hood, which relies heavily on linked data to model and link resources. We've also done some experimenting with linked data in our catalog records in the past, using BIBFRAME + wikidata to expand the information in our catalog records.

Under the hood we use disparate systems: Alma for catalog records, Primo for Journal articles, Blacklight and our own tools for databases and digital collections, among others. We also provide a common interface for requesting discoverable items through ILL (and, in the future, we'll be linking to Aeon to schedule appointments to view our archival and special collections resources).

https://search.library.wisc.edu/digital/AChazArchive
Here's an example of a new kind of resource we've incorporated into our digital collections, with links to other resources on campus: museum exhibit archives. This work came out of a Mellon grant we received with the Chazen Museum of Art to bring art museum resources under the umbrella of library search-and-discovery.

Usability and designSmith CollegeCustomizable bento box
https://www.smith.edu/libraries/discover/search.php?fieldcode=&query=disability+studies
It's a customizable bento box, so you can, for instance, delete the Books box and add a JSTOR box. The URL updates when you do that, too, so you can bookmark/send a specific search setup

Some interesting features that would be worth looking through. it has a unified design and allows user to look at different resources without leaving the search application.

From an ER&L presentation. They found that patrons had trouble finding physical materials in EDS with so many articles in the mix. They built a new catalog just for physical materials, ebooks, and streaming media. This catalog focuses on known item searching and allows searching without login.
