Barry & Eaton counties are combining forces for our BF Month event, which is called Growing A Village and will be held in Nashville on 8-4-26 4-7pm. Barry county is continuing to partner with Centering at Corewell Pennock attending the 1st & 8th visits to discuss WIC in general at visit 1 and BF supports at visit 8. We have seen families in the WIC clinic and at Baby Cafe as a result.

We also are going to have a breastfeeding tent at our Chippewa County fair August 31-September 5 and the Jenna also will be out at the fair to reach out and talk to community members.

CMDHDJessica Sovajsova@cmdhd.orgCMDHD was awarded the Coffective Community Collaboration grant. For NBM we are hosting a Doula Meet and Greet type event in each of our counties where community members are able to meet doulas in a "speed dating" format. We are also using the funding to kick of a milestone incentive program. Cliets that are BE/BP coming in for their CERT appointment will get a beadable keychain. As they meet monthly BF milestones they will get a number to add to their keychain. We also ordered milestone stickers to give at certain months. At 6 months they will receive their choice of a bib or infant shirt and a spoon and at 12 months we are giving them a DIY breastmilk jewellery kit. We are really looking forward to starting this initiative. We have recently had some peer turnover and are currently training a new peer and looking to hire one for another county. Three peers continue be in clinics full time split with clerical duties. Clare county peer is participating in a Rock 'n Rest tent at their fair on 8/7. Currently many administrative changes - new Health Officer and Family Health Director. Will also have new BF Coordinator and Peer Manager at future meetings.

We have an event planned in Newago County which is "Mommy & Me in the Park". This event is open to our clients in Newaygo, Mecosta and Oceana counties and has been held for several years in different locations in Newaygo county. It is in collaboration with the Newaygo County Breastfeeding Coalition. We are very excited to host this event. Our peer counselor, Tina McDonald, did the MWR OA CLS training and passed her exam this week. We are extremely proud of her for this accomplishment.

DULPaige Urbanopaige.urbano@deturbanleague.orgCurrently in the final planning and preparation stages for National Breastfeeding Month and looking to incorporate a month-long celebration that can be enjoyed across all seven of our WIC clinics with the intention of reaching more clients in person while also sharing in the celebration virtually through different types of promotions. We continue to host our monthly virtual Express Yourself BF Support Group and our monthly in-person Ready, Set, Baby workshop. We are currently interviewing for our CLS position, and we also had one of our RDs just obtain his CLS certification with the intention of leading a support group for Fathers, which we submitted a grant proposal with BCBS earlier this year. We also have a nutritionist/CPA registered to take the CLS course next week as well. Look forward to having WIC staff with higher level breastfeeding education to help assist with supporting our clients and overall mission. Also had one of our BFPC obtain her CLS certification recently and have another BFPC that registered for the CLS course in August.

We've been offering a breastfeeding class once per month at 7pm to help with moms going back to work/in school etc. We had interns recently create new breastfeeding social media posts for us for Breastfeeding month and we are planning to do a Breastfeeding Brunch in honor of Breastfeeding month. We also recently filmed a short video with MSUE at the Davison Farmers' Market promoting pop-up nursing tents/highlighting our Baby Nest pop up tent.

JacksonAnnalisa Rowlesarowles@mijackson.org Our clinic has been busy seeing lots of new babies and pregnant moms, and clinic flow seems good. We recently brought on a new IBCLC on a casual basis -- she is working in the clinic a few hours a week and will be taking over one of our BF classes, likely in the fall. Currently working on planning our NBM celebration and reaching out to community partners who we'd like to join us for this. We were given an indoor space to set up a lactation station during the county fair this year and are excited to use our community engagement funding to get some new materials to help us set up the space -- that will be happening mid-August. Otherwise we've just been prepping for ME and ensuring everyone is up to date on their breastfeeding trainings. I am giving a pump inservice for all of our LA staff at the end of this month. I will be going on maternity leave sometime at the end of September or early October.

We have a peer counselor departing from us, so we have a posting live for the position until 7/27/2026. Otherwise, we are currently preparing for our August Breastfeeding Fun Fair on 8/7/26.

We have received several donated prizes to give away and will have info tables for attendees to learn about available services. In July the Peers hosted a Pump Inservice at our local agency for WIC staff, home visitors, MIHP and anyone interested in learning about the pumps our clients are using. Information on helping clients to choose a breast pump, tips for managing engorgement and flange sizing were also available. We continue to offer a breastfeeding and a pumping class monthly, as well as weekly virtual support groups and a monthly in person support group.

We received funds from the community engagement funds in which we will have BF promotional items at the walk for participants. We received funds for the Community Partnership Collaborative in which we have 3 individuals signed up for CLS training. We met with local doulas to collaborate with for referrals along with our Shelterhouse to collaborate for referrals. We used part of these funds to provide wellness bags for new BF clients

Mid MI DHDBethann McPherson bmcpherson@mmdhd.orgWe are currently fully staffed and will be down to one PC in August due to a maternity leave. We attended our other two community baby showers, both of which were very successful. We have also continued to make progress with our Coffective grant initiatives. We are increasing education and outreach efforts to daycare providers throughout the community and continue to strengthen relationships through networking with healthcare providers and health systems. We are hosting a breastfeeding class at the end of the month and will be utilizing a portion of our grant funding to provide attendance incentives and encourage participation. In preparation for being down a staff member during Breastfeeding Month, we have also begun planning and developing our social media presence and outreach efforts to maintain community engagement and education. Additionally, we have added a digital platform in our waiting rooms that allows us to display educational resources, health information, and videos for clients while they are in our lobbies. This has expanded our ability to provide health education and increase awareness of available services and community resources.

We are providing our Parent Pit Stop (PPS) during Alpenfest in Otsego County 7/14-7/18 and so far, it has been very well received. Our LA staff is volunteering/filling time slots to "Tent Host" from 12-9p each day. We will also be providing the PPS for Kids Day 7/23 at Venetian Festival in Charlevoix and again, at the Emmet/Chx County Fair from 8/24-8/29 with Tent Host's attending each day to provide snacks/water for families. One of our peers recently attended the ACLS Training and loved it! We are going through a big transition in our community surrounding OB services - one of the biggest providers is closing their doors mid August and McLaren Northern Michigan is working to put temporary services together for birthing support. Currently, Lactation support has also been reduced at McLaren and our agency is providing support as best we can. The timing of the Hospital Toolkit may prove to be very beneficial!

I have two summer events so far that I'll be bringing our Parent Pit stop to. Lastly, happy to share Oakland County received 100% on our ME!

There has been a drop in my Peer numbers again, but I have 2 other amazing Peers who are doing excellent in picking up the workload.

SaginawSusan Olguinsolguin@saginawcountymi.govOur local bf coalition will be at Children's Fun Night, a Saginaw Co Parks event in August, celebrating Breastfeeding Month, with SCHD and GLBHC WIC, we will have the Parent Pit Stop set up and GLBHC WIC worked with Molina to have giveaways for families. Our BF numbers are remaining steady and back to our highest levels during covid and the recall, which is wonderful. BF Peers and all staff are doing a great job providing education, support and follow-up; great TEAM! I continue to provide BF ed at CMU Centering. I found it interesting the other day during a cert appt with a young mom, she said she didn't want to bf andf after asking if i could provide some info to help her make an informed decision, after she heard about emergencies-natural disasters, etc, lack of power, safe water, relying on fomrula to be available and safe, she decided to be open to info with the peers and changed her mind, she will try to BF! It was awesome! Staff working with the BF Month materials that arrived this week. Staff have liked the OA grant trainings too! We have 5 events planned, one each week in August, and one celebrating La Semana de Lactancia in September. We will invite Breastfeeding Champions, who are current WIC breastfeeding clients, to these events to share their breastfeeding stories for our families in attendance. With grant funding, we will provide gift cards to these Breastfeeding champions and we will have refreshments, prizes, and giveaways for attendees. This past quarter we have added additional support opportunities from . For the second year in a row, one of our breastfeeding peers hosted a social at Corner Health Center, a partner health center that services young families ages 12-26 years old. We are also piloting a monthly Peer Drop In Session this summer to provide additional time and space for any pregnant or breastfeeding client that may have questions for our peer or who wants to learn from others experiences around breastfeeding. We also have an additional IBCLC in our office with our Breastfeeding Coord, Erika Chanderraj, taking and passing the exam in April!
