Also, business owners who own less than $7,700 in total actual value of business personal property are exempt. This Emergency Ordinance, a response to the COVID-19 emergency, will provide for an emergency refund of taxes collected in February 2020 which were paid to the City in March 2020. The deferment needs to be paid back to the City on or before July 31, 2020. Between now and April 20th, you can request a temporary refund of taxes already paid in March. Between now and May 20th, quarterly filers can also request a deferment of 1st quarter 2020 taxes using the same link. Any business owner who has not yet paid, will also need to fill out this form to provide us information on their sales and agree to the terms of the deferment. These cash grants are designed to assist eligible small businesses that may have temporarily closed, are having difficulty paying their rent and utilities, or have or are considering reducing staff (number or hours). Eligible uses of funds include direct business expenses related to the continued operation; such as payroll, inventory or supplies, lease/rent payments, and utilities for the business. | The business must be located and operating in Erie, with no more than 3 locations, including at least 1 location in Erie. The business must be in good standing with the Town (e.g. not in default on any taxes) and the Colorado Secretary of State. The business must have no less than 2 full time equivalent employees (FTE) at the time of application. The business must have a documented loss of future contracts/orders or sales declines compared to February 2020 or in future commitments that are related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that must be documented with the following: monthly financials for March 2020, and if available for any/all prior months in 2020 and 2019, and a summary of accounts and financial resources on hand, such as funds on deposit or other liquid assets. The application must demonstrate a business strategy for ensuring or returning to business viability and maintaining operations through 2020, including: a summary business plan, highlighting both how the business will or is surviving in the immediate market disruption (2-3 months) and how the business will adjust to ensure longer-term viability. Evidence of access to or commitment of other capital resources. Evidence of sustainability, such as a letter of commitment from a financing lender or equity investor. Explanation of the intended uses of the business support funds, which may include business expenses such as, payroll, inventory or supplies, rent, and utilities. This relief can help to stem the gap as businesses are operating with critical weeks and days before their operation is changed forever. The purpose of this program is to provide some immediate rent support for the Town’s entrepreneurial small businesses. It is intended to be a bridge grant allowing the business tenant to get through the next 30 days while other relief options are pursued. The ultimate goal of the program is to help keep small businesses in a position to re-open as soon as the COVID-19 crisis is over. Those applications meeting all the criteria and having a complete application will be prioritized. All funds will be distributed electronically to qualifying applicants’ landlord as a direct deposit. No checks can be issued. Rent will be paid up to $4,000. Any business owner that also owns their building or unit will receive $2.58 per square foot up to $4,000 (this amount is based on the average grant awards from round 1). | Business currently be closed by Summit County Public Health Order and unable to operate from home. Businesses offering limited take-out and/or mail order are eligible. Business that can function remotely will not be considered at this time.
