The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson’s, and U.S. News & World Report. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student’s transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.

1. Tab and enter may work differently based on the operating system and Excel version of the user. Please use caution to not skip any data entry fields.

2. Several questions use dropdown lists. Please click into the cell for the dropdown area to show on the right hand side of the cell.

3. For the College Board's BigFuture College Profiles CDS Upload process:
- You can upload portions of the CDS template as you complete them.
- The "Scratch Pad" tab below is unlocked and available for additional notes or formulas. The use of this tab is optional and will not impact the upload process for College Board's BigFuture College Profiles CDS Upload.

4. There have been reported differences in the view for Mac/Windows Excel users. While the worksheets are locked, the row and column formatting (width and height) can be adjusted. Select "View" and click "Headings" for the headings to be displayed. You can then drag to adjust row or columns. Please try using following settings:

Page Layout:
Margins = Normal
Orientation = Landscape
Page Setup, Select Scaling, adjust percentage until all columns show on single page.

View:
Page Layout
Uncheck Ruler, Gridlines, Headings
Zoom between 100 - 140% specific to your preferred view
