Mountaineer Treeways- WVU is certified as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. One of the requirements of this designation is to create a tree care plan. Two tenets of WVU's plan are to diversify tree species growing on campus, and to increase tree canopy, or tree coverage of the ground when viewed from above. One way we're addressing this is with support from the WVU Division for Forestry's Treeways program. The program provides tree saplings. Head over to WVU Sustainability's Twitter account for a brief video series about sapling plantings that just happened a few weeks ago!

11 am: See what tree activities are happening this month on campus and learn how they help accomplish tree care goals.

1 pm: What are we planting and why did we pick those types?

3 pm: It's time to check on our baby trees from last year and plant some new ones!

5 pm: What are those little orange flags I've seen in landscape beds on campus?

Eating Green - A list of meat-free recipes for you to try at home. Meat production across the globe has various effects on the environment-- from fossil fuel usage, to water and land consumption. We're not suggesting you change your eating habits overnight, but wanted to give you food for thought on meatless alternatives! Also, as the demand for beans and pulses has increased by 40% by some estimates in recent weeks, we've added bean-focused recipes for you to branch out on a new culinary adventure.
