He also performs on flute, oboe, piccolo, and EVI (an electronic valve instrument made by the Akai company). He's buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich. 03/07/2018.Staff Sergeant Inducted Nov. 25, 1942Entered active service Dec. 7, 1942 at Fort Custer in Michigan.Awarded Combat Infantryman's Badge and later a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service (CIB conversion).Other awards include the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars for combat in the North Apennines and Po Valley campaigns.Honorable Discharge Jan. 5, 1946 at Camp Atterbury

Cole, Edward CarnegieDrafted at 18 years of age, he served his country in Italy, during World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army’s all-Black, 92nd Division. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry for three years and was trained in one of the most dangerous jobs, the demolition of bridges and mines. He was heavily involved in the Battle of the Bulge (1944-1945), during which the United States lost 89,500 soldiers.
