2
AllAllPencilled or printed bowings?
All pencilled bowings have been put in by the conductor. Follow all pencilled bowings over printed.
3
4
541Violin #5 and Bass #4Isn't the tempo too slow!CORRECT! Tempo is quarter = 150 through to rehearsal 65
5
6
148Viola #2Is the last note an "a natural" instead of an "a flat" (the note prior is a G#)?Yes
7
8
136Viola # 2Should the first note be a down bow similar to m. 138 & 140?, I don't see the down bow on and-of-2 in m 136 that you mention. Should there be one? Should the measure begin up bow instead of down bow?NO, it is an UP bow, M. 136, 138 and 140 all begin UP, the last note each measure is DOWN followed by two more DOWNS.
9
10
136 - 141Viola # 2Are there really three down bows in a row?Yes - the and-of-2 in the first bar of #15 and beats 1 and 2 in the second bar after #15 are all downbow, as in the next instance of the same motif. It is bowed correctly. I want the retake on each downbeat where downbow is marked (which results in three downbows in a row for that figure).
11
12
148 - 151Cello #2
There is no divisi marked in m.148-151, shouldn't this be 3 part divisi?
Yes, play only the top for the October auditions.
13
14
192Cello #7provide a time-stamp for cello excerpt at 192 as it is hard to find on the recordingThis is the beginning of the rondo
15
16
86 - 87Cello #1Excerpt 1: 2 before big 10 (m. 86 and 87). Aren't the printed bowings backwards? Shouldn't the G 16th note be and up bow and the down beat of m. 87 a down bow? I think the slurs at big 9 change the bowings so that 83 starts up bow.Pencilled bowings 2 before 10 are correct. Printed bowings 2 before 10 are not.
17
18
ALLWould it be possible to rescan Cello excerpts #3 & #4, please? They seem not to print very clearly. The parts are rental and not clean at all. This is the cleanest copy we could find. Sorry.
19
20
454 - 455Viola #4
m 454 going into 455 there are three down bows in a row.
also bowed correctly with retakes as desired. but m455 is slightly unclear the way i marked it - i meant for my penciled downbow in that measure to be on the second half note. that will resolve the question.
21
22
79Cello #1The downbeat of number 9 should be Eb. This is missing in the parts but not in the score. Please clarify that the note before 9 is E natural, and the downbeat of 9 is Eb.it is E natural one bar before nine and it is E flat on the downbeat of nine.
23
24
157Cello # 2To be consistent this should be three down bows. (both are marked). Please clarify. It is marked correctly as three down bows in a row, however I can see how the middle downbow that i penciled in is not totally clear
25
26
465 - 469Cello #6
I am assuming that you want students to play the last two measures.
OOPS! No the excerpt should stop at the down beat of rehearsal 55 and do not play the two measures after rehearsal 56.
27
28
89 - 92Viola #189 has a down-up-down, up-up pattern. Should that pattern continue for measures 90, 91, 92?yes - patterns continue.
29
30
541 - 548Viola #5In m. 541 and m. 542 the bowing pattern is down, up-up. Should that pattern continue for measures 543-548?yes - patterns continue.
31
32
226Bass # 2What is the starting dynamic for Excerpt 2? There is a "pp" given four bars in but nothing at the beginning.- 26 should be p, and the pp should actually also be p
33
34
427Bass # 3Where does the pizzicato start? Is is on the downbeat note or the second note of the measure?- 50 is pizz starting on the downbeat
35
36
531 - 532Viola # 5Why are there two up bows on the tie? Should the first one be a down bow?Rehearsal 62 (m. 531) should be a DOWN bow.
37
38
534Viola # 5Shouldn't there be an up bow during the tie to prepare for the coming down bow?an upbow should be added over the middle of the whole note
39
40
