Section II: Deliverables and TimeframesThe SSC is expected as one of its first work products, to develop a proposed timeline as well as expected steps for the different appointments and/or nominations that are of a recurring nature . . .Arinola Akinyemi: I suggest we leave this portion as is considering that every SSC has to develop its own proposed timelineFollowing leadership discussion additional redline edits have been suggested for clarity.
3
Section II: Membership CriteriaNone currently.Sam Lanfranco: Not sure. We need discussion on this item.

Osvaldo Novoa: I'm not sure also. What would be the benefit?
Comments are in response to staff question: "An SSC member suggested that mailing list observers should be permitted. Add to charter?"
4
Section II: Membership CriteriaIf a member is not able to participate in a selection process, that member will be responsible, in accordance with the processes of the appropriate SG/C, to identify an alternate who is expected to participate in the SSC deliberations in case of absence of the member or in cases where a member may be conflicted (e.g. in case he or she is one of the candidates to be reviewed by the SSC). Sam Lanfranco: I agree, but not sure which wording goes where here.Comment is in response to staff question: "It may be appropriate to add additional guidance for cases where an SSC member has a personal or professional relationship with a candidate that the SSC is considering. For example:
- Members are encouraged to declare to the SSC if they have a personal or professional relationship with a candidate.
- They are not required to recuse themselves in these cases, but they are encouraged to use their best judgement in determining whether to participate in a selection process."
5
Section II: Membership CriteriaThe SSC is expected to select its Chair(s) from its membership.Sam Lanfranco: Agree with wording

Olivier Kouami: Agree

Brian Winterfeldt: Brian Winterfeldt agree with Emily's wording
Comment in response to staff question: "It may be appropriate to add further details about the role of the Chair. For example, based on current practice:
- The Chair serves as a neutral facilitator.
- For this particular group, the Chair also has the opportunity to "change hats" and provide input as a member, as long as s/he makes clear that that s/he is doing so."

Section III: Committee Roles, Functions, and DutiesThe standard Committee roles, functions & duties shall be applicable as specified in Section 2.2 of the Working Group Guidelines.Arinola Akinyemi: The link to the referenced document could be placed here
7
Section III: Committee Roles, Functions, and DutiesEach member of the Standing Committee is required to submit an SOI in accordance with Section 5 of the GNSO Operating Procedures.Arinola Akinyemi: The link to the referenced document could be placed here
8
Section IV: Review Team Appointment Principles2. Following receipt of the list of candidates, the SSC is expected to reach out to each SG/C to confirm affiliation as stated by candidates.
3. Each SG/C should be provided with sufficient opportunity to provide this confirmation as well as any other information the SG/C deems useful for the SSC to consider as part of its evaluation.
Sam Lanfranco: Re: #2, #3. Wording could be more explicit about the SSC member reaching back to their SG/C for input and feedback.Comment in response to staff note: "In practice, SG/Cs provide any input about the candidates through their appointed SSC members. The charter could be more clear that SSC members are expected to coordinate with their groups and ensure that the groups have an opportunity to provide this input to the process."
9
Section IV: Decision-Making MethodologiesThe Chair will be responsible for designating the position as having the following designation:
- Full consensus - when no one in the group speaks against the recommendation in its last readings. This is also sometimes referred to as Unanimous Consensus.
Sam Lanfranco: Should we repeat what was said earlier and define a lack of full consensus. " Some part of:
"In case no full consensus is achieved, the SSC will inform the GNSO Council accordingly, providing the details as necessary and agreed by the SSC as to why it was not possible to achieve full consensus."

Olivier Kouami: Agree
Staff note: The text Sam quotes in his comment is currently included in the Mission & Scope section of the charter.
10
Section IV: Problem/Issue Escalation & Resolution ProcessesIn addition, if any member of the SSC is of the opinion that someone is not performing their role according to the criteria outlined in this Charter, the same appeals process may be invoked.Arinola Akinyemi: Suggestion to change "appeals" to "appeal"
