Procedure of Item Analysis of Selected Response Tests (SRT)
16
1.       Score each test.
17
2.       Sort the papers in numerical order according to the total score, highest to lowest.
18
3.       Determine the upper 27 % and the lower 27 % groups. “Maximally reliable item discrimination results will be obtained when each criterion group contains 27% of the total.”(Kelly, 1939). 25-33% reasonable size for the criterion group. The high and low groups must contain the same number of individuals
19
4.       Record separately the number of times each alternative was selected by individuals in the high and low groups.
20
5.       Encode the results in the template.
21
22
Item difficulty p is the percent of the group tested that answered the question correctly.
23
24
Item discrimination refers to how well the item distinguishes the more knowledgeable from the less knowledgeable students.
