39 | Leah Gauss is a... erm, person of... below average height. Just don't call her short. Despite not being able to look most people in the eye, she still cuts an intimidating figure...somehow. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she's never been seen to smile or laugh. Not even a little. Not in public, at least. | Leah grew up in Onyxville, near the Casino Strip. She was always intrigued by the gambling machines, and - to a lesser extent - the games of the Fairground, and was determined from a fairly young age to figure out a way to beat the system. Unfortunately for her, she was defeated from deciphering the casino equation by simple logistics. She was too young to go in there alone, and her parents didn't want to let her spend any time in there. So she had to try to work out the less precise calculations of the carnival games in the Fairground. While other kids were busy playing around, she was scribbling down equations, and pouring over various books. Eventually, after years of work, and countless dozens of diverting texts, she was finally able to flawlessly beat a simple ring toss game every time. But that took too much time - she needed to gain access to better technologies, more knowledge and resources. And that meant only one place in the region. Sapphire University. But getting in would not be easy. No piddling carnival game would be enough. She needed experience, references, recommendations. And the only way to do that was to wait until she was 16, and then travel the region, make connections, and hope to be able to stand out. And hopefuly get a Pokemon that was smarter than she was. | |||||||||||

41 | To describe Leah in one word would simply be...driven. She can't stand failure, and any instances of it will simply cause her to come up with a way to overcome it. Well, eventually. Maybe not now, but she'll hold onto that failure, and nurse it with a vengeance. She believes that everything in the univers should be able to reduce to basic mathematics. Nature, people, and battling, all of it should be able to be reduced to basic mathematics - or so she believes.
