Cambridge University Press (CUP) currently publishes over 400 peer-reviewed scholarly journals of which 330 are hybrid journals and 40 are gold open access journals. Participating institutions receive access to CUP’s full collection and affiliated authors can also publish in most hybrid and gold open access Cambridge University Press journals without paying article processing charges (APCs). ElsevierThis agreement commenced in 2023. It is a three-year agreement (2023-2025). Institutions participating in this agreement have access to over 2000subscription-based journal titles in the ScienceDirect Freedom Collection andaffiliated authors can publish their articles open access in these hybrid titleswithout paying article processing charges (APCs).
Gold open access titles: eligible corresponding authors will receive a discounton Elsevier’s gold open access portfolio of titles. Elsevier has a pilot for Geographical Pricing for Open Access (GPOA) to helpauthors from low- and middle-income countries by offering discounted ArticleProcessing Charges (APC) on142 Gold Open Access journals. EmeraldThe agreement commenced in 2022 and has been renewed for a further three years (2025-2027). Emerald publishes over 300 scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. The Emerald/SANLiC agreement for 2025-2027 is a transformational open access agreement that provides read access to the collection to which your institution subscribes as well as permitting affiliated authors to publish a capped number of articles as open access at no extra charge in the journals to which your institution subscribes.
The cap for 2024 is 181 articles, shared across the consortium and allocated on a first come, first served basis

Oxford University Press JournalsThis agreement commenced in 2023 and has been renewed for a further three years (2025-2027). Participating institutions have read access to OUPs full 2023 collection of over 370 journal titles and affiliated authors can also publish in OUP’s hybrid journals without paying article processing charges (APCs). In addition, there is a 10% discount on APCs for publishing in OUP’s fully open access titles.

Sage PublishingThis agreement commenced in 2022 and has been renewed for a further three years (2025-2027). SAGE is an independent academic and professional publisher of journals, books and electronic media spanning a wide range of subjects. The SAGE-SANLiC agreement provides access to the SAGE Premier journals collection of over 1,100 titles and permits aliated authors to publish open access in the hybrid titles listed in the SAGE-SANLiC agreement without paying article processing charges. Fully open access titles: eligible corresponding authors will receive a discount of 20% on SAGE’s fully open access portfolio of titles. Please click here to see the list of Gold open access titles. Springer NatureThis is a three-year agreement (2023-2025). Institutions participating in the agreement have access to over 2,360 subscription-based journals in the Springer, Adis, Nature Academic and Palgrave Macmillan collections and affiliated authors can publish their articles open access in the hybrid titles without paying article processing charges (APCs). Nature Research journals and all fully open access journals are, however, excluded. There is a limit (cap) on the number of articles that can be published by authors affiliated with participating institutions which is shared acrosss the consortium and allocated on a first come first served basis. Taylor & FrancisThis is a three-year agreement (2024-2026). Eligible authors affiliated to subscribing institutions can publish their articles open access in all Taylor & Francis Open Select (hybrid) journals without paying article processing charges (APCs). Eligible authors will also benefit from a 10% discount when they publish in the Taylor & Francis fully open access journals. There is a limit (cap) on the number of articles that can be published by authors affiliated to participating which is shared across the consortium and allocated on a first come firstserved basis. The cap is split into two groups: 37% of the article entitlement is dedicated to publishing in UNISA and NISC journals, while 63% remains available for publishing across all other Open Select (hybrid) journals.T & F

WileyThis agreement commenced in 2022. It is a four-year agreement (2022-2025). Affiliated authors can also publish in Wiley’s hybrid journals without paying article processing charges (APCs). In years two to four (2023-2025) of the agreement affiliated authors will be able to publish in all Wiley gold open access and Hindawi journals without paying APCs. There is a limit (cap) on the number of articles that can be published open access by authors affiliated with participating institutions which is shared across the consortium and allocated on a first come fisrt served basis.Wiley

IOPThis agreement commenced in 2023. It is a three-year agreement (2023-2025).
Read access is provided to over 70 scholarly journals, including the renowned Journal of Physics series, back to 1874. Eligible authors at participating SANLiC member institutions are afforded the opportunity to publish their articles on an open access basis in IOPP’s hybrid and gold open access journals without paying article processing charges (APCs). Note that a small number of society journals levy page charges.

Gold Open Access (Gold OA)/ FullyOpen Access
All articles published in these journals are free to read under a Creative
Commons licence. An APC is usually payable (discounted).

Hybrid Open Access Journal (Hybrid OA)
A subscription journal in which some articles are open access (OA). An APC is usually payable for an OA article, but the APCs are covered by the SANLiC agreements (waived).
