All CoinsAdventure Island- Snowpang/More (Check Reward for Coin Chest)
During Adventure Island days you will get a selection of 3 Islands, there's usually one that will give Pirate Coin and Pirate Currency chests. They will reward you roughly 3-4k Pirate Coins and 5-7 chests.
Gate events will be named for example:
Gate of Harmony, then you will need to have at least 1 Key of Harmony to Enter.

You have a chance to get keys from Each part of the co-op sailing missions you participate in.

All the Gate Events require you to have at least 1 Key! I advice Keeping one of every key. The event themselves reward coins even if you do not win it.

Alternative Sources Aside from Island Quests-

Stronghold Dispatch Missions can gain Seals, Seals can be exchanged for Pirate Currency. (Not super efficient but you can do it)

All coins can be used to purchase various Blueprints- used to upgrade ships. And some specific upgrade materials for upper tier of ships require specific materials.

All coins can be exchanged for Pirate coins, at different exchange rates, with Sun Coins being the most efficient.

All coins have uses to be spent on buying various crews.
