Volunteer List for the UNITY Family Dance
2
Hi Parents! Thanks so much for being willing to help out at the family dance this year! We have several roles for volunteers to play, noted below, and would love for you to slot your name into a place that feels like a good fit. We've broken the evening into two shifts so that when you're not volunteering, you can boogie with your kiddos! Blue slots are for set-up, yellow for shift one and green for shift two. Thanks again!

Set-Up: Decorate the space, move tables into formation, lay out supplies, set-up chairs, etc. This is a good role for folks who want to volunteer ahead of time and then enjoy the entire dance with their kids. Entrance Table: This role would be great for people who like to act as greeters. No money collection will be required - the dance is free - but you would be checking that children are accompanied by adults and asking people to sign in and get a wristband before proceeding into the cafeteria. Back Hallway: People in this role will monitor the back hallway, stairwell, and bathrooms. Since the entire event will take place on the first floor, this job will include making sure that no one heads upstairs, helping kids remember to walk in the hall, and also helping with the flow of traffic in the kids' bathrooms. Front Hallway and Stairwell: People doing this job will welcome families, direct the flow of traffic toward the cafeteria, monitor the front stairwells to be sure that no one heads upstairs or outside, and monitor the doors to be sure that kids don't leave alone. Last year, people doing this job got some pushback, so it's best for those ready to be tough! Refreshment Table: People doing this job will man the food table, help serve, and hand out water. Folks also may be asked to help with any spills or accidents involving food! The refreshment table will be inside the cafeteria.Craft/Activity Table: People doing this job will manage craft supplies and materials and help students who are doing crafts. The tables will be inside the cafeteria, toward the back and a little ways away from the dancing. Dance Floor/Student Monitoring: People doing this job will help monitor the students to be sure that everyone is having fun and being safe (not running, not going on stage, not acting wild, etc.). This job is good for people who aren't shy to redirect kids to help keep everyone safe. Flexible Help: People who are feeling flexible can sign up here and we'll find you a great spot!
