We are trying to teach a computer to identify people's names and what they did from free-text movie credits

For "Directed by Clint Eastwood," we want to identify "Clint Eastwood" as a name and "Directed by" as the words describing what he did.

One of the challenges is that there can be other types of information in the credits

We want to be able to identify and exclude that other information

We want to compile a list of patterns of various kinds of extraneous information so we can help the computer identify it.
