To Powder, magic is self-expression - magic is the lifeblood in which personal expression exists and without it magic would cease to truly have meaning. Powder believes intrinsically that magic exists within the capacity within everyone - it’s unique and self-shaped by expression and experiences, and can never truly be taken away even when one may be concealing their true self for the sake of survival. So long as belief in self exists, magic will continue to exist, at least within their own viewpoint.
Powder has two primarily forms of casting their magic, one based within the traditional training they received and a more personalized version they developed to suit their needs.

Like many mages in the Order of Hermes, Powder was trained to cast spell through incantations; so verbal spells aren't uncommon for them. Take away their ability to talk and you've nerfed half of their means of casting.

However, since they were never a fan of that because it feels utterly too obvious, Powder personally prefers to cast their magic through focusing it through a signit ring they always wear. A tell that they're casting is that they'll fiddle with the ring.

...that or they're sincerely just fidgeting, so it's about 50/50 on what's happening.

That doe-eyed look about them isn’t for nothing, by appearing innocent and blameless Powder is better able to avoid suspicion and deflect blame from themself. In situations regarding suspicion or deflecting blame, two dice are added to the rolls for a better chance at success.
■ ■
Given that Powder has two forms of casting magic - incantations and channeling through their ring - there's two main ways to silence their magic.

The first, obviously, is to physically silence them. If they can't speak then they most certainly can't cast spells. The second is to remove their ring from their person, without it directly on their person they can't channel their magic.
78

The Mind sphere is Powder’s affinity sphere, the very first one they were raised and trained within; but ironically, while they have considerable control and prowess in this sphere their hermetic training in all spheres, but especially their main sphere, leads them to be nowhere near as powerful as they could be if they were able to reconcile proper training with their own paradigm.

They primarily use this sphere to bolster themself - enabling multi-tasking easier, making focusing easier, etc. but they’re not against using their magic in business meetings to read thoughts and impressions to get a better grasp over a situation; but it’s rare that Powder ever goes out of their way to use their magic to harm others.

☆ Listening Ears
86

It pays to have listening ears in places where gossip and rumors flow naturally, you never know when someone might let something of use slip. The Duprey family has ties in many places and people on payroll that will let things slip on the down low when paid off.
☆ Mage's Bane
87

Like all mages, Powder isn’t immune to the risks of a Paradox. If two 1’s are rolled in a check to invoke a vulgar magical effect, there’s a chance for a human to witness in the area, causing a Paradox.

☆ Who Are You?
☆ Forces
94

One perk that comes with adopting an entirely new persona than the one Powder uses for day to day business opportunities is they’re essentially near impossible to notice easily as being the heir to the Duprey legacy. Aside from their hair color and eye color, Powder entirely adopts a whole new look that makes them rather indistinguishable from their professional appearance - and sure, they could use it for spying or what have you but they’re much more interested in just existing and living.

96
With parents who are avid followers of the Order of Hermes it’s no surprise that Powder’s secondary sphere is Forces. As with the Mind sphere, Powder’s prowess in Force magic primarily suffers due to the direct conflict in their hermetic training and their own personal paradigm.

This magic is hardly used for anything offensive or defensive, it’s more something Powder just enjoys for show. Frost and ice are their elemental trips of choice, they simply find them the prettiest out of all the elements out there for them to use.
☆ No Pressure
97

Powder isn’t great under pressure, a rather ironic trait for someone who was raised beneath high pressure to have. If pressed too hard to the point that they lose their security in an interaction Powder will suffer -1 on all social rolls until the interaction concludes or they recover their footing.
