(Concept & Core Ruleset)
(Special Note: These rules were originally designed for personal use and enjoyment. If there are sections or rules you disagree with, you're free to change things to fit your own tastes.)
2
>This is an alternative ruleset designed for Jumpchain based on a desire for a more one and done ‘Build’ experience. Something easier to keep track of compared to the continuous stream of new abilities and items.
3
>The idea is that you will make a single build before your adventures begin, a 'Mega Build' drawing from multiple documents of your choice. This build is then what you use for the rest of your adventures/chain.
4
>New skills, abilities, and equipment may be acquired through other means, but will primarily result from a Jumper's own efforts from this point on.
5
>The intent is to create a focused mental image of one's Jumper, such as their resources, and their capabilities. Familiarity and specific themes are more easily fostered with a singular build even if it's quite large.
6
>The lack of continuous builds also creates favorable conditions for adventure; such as unique challenges in some settings that can't be purchased around, or the requirement to go out and obtain desired items or abilities through one's own efforts.
7
>A mathematical formula (found below) has been developed to determine your budget for this mega build, as stacked budgets feels as if it goes against the spirit of a focused build concept.
8
>This formula was designed with a curve in mind; i.e., drawing from multiple documents gives a greater budget until a specific point, where more documents just become a hindrance.
9
>There is also a ‘Minimum Spending Requirement’ of 300CP per document. This means you must spend at least 300CP on each document selected for the Mega Build.
10
>This is to encourage creative build compositions, while discouraging too much gaming of the system by potentially selecting many documents while dumping the majority of your budget into one with high end options.
11
>Powerful builds can be designed and you are encouraged to do so to some extent, given you only have the one build to play with.
12
13
(Additional Rules)
14
>1. Documents used for the Mega Build cannot be visited during the chain. Additionally, Drawbacks, Scenarios, and Setting-Reliant Purchases may not be taken during the build process, mostly due to incompatibility with this system's parameters.
15
>2. Stipends are document dependent; an item stipend provided in one document may not be used on another document despite the composite build nature of this setup.
16
>3. Companions may be purchased, both original and canon, during the build process. In future worlds, new companions may be recruited through an invite method. Set maximum invites at your discretion.
17
>4. Imports may be used on applicable objects or companions, except ones that come from the same document unless stated otherwise.
18
>5. One free Origin may be taken during each Jump in the chain. You will have the in-world benefits of this origin, but not freebies from the document. It's purpose is to incarnate you into the world.
19
>6. Scenarios may be taken during the chain providing they don't require specific purchases from the Jump.
20
>7. Basic assets provided to everyone entering a Jump under normal rules are still provided, like chakra in Naruto, or a wand and magic in Harry Potter.

(Budget Formula)
24
>X = Number of Jumps
25
>Y = Mega Build Budget
26
>Z = Floating Budget
27
>1000 * X - (X - 1) * X * 50 = Y
28
>Y - (X * 300) = Z
29
(Difficulty)
30
>By default, this formula leaves you has an Optimal Range of 5-10 Jump Documents, providing the best combination of Budget and Flexibility, though more or less may be selected.
31
>One may also adjust the difficulty of this ruleset if so desired however, allowing more Jumps with higher budgets, or fewer Jumps with a smaller budget, using the following information.
32
>Easy: '25'
33
>Normal: '50'
34
>Hard: '75'
35
>Very Hard: '100'
36
>Ruleset Difficulty:
50
(To alter Difficulty, simply adjust the number in the neighboring cell of C36 to the number beside the desired Difficulty. If you wish to leave it at Normal, leave the number at 50.)
