No				That is a great question for a discussion or topic	Depending of the size of the group that responds, I have attended some "birds of a feather" set ups where experts within a particular offering would be available for questions and discussion at individual tables. It's really helpful to prevent strong opinions from taking over a session since there is always another interesting table to go to.

IBM is providing the tools to build integrated solutions, but this community can provide the 'apprenticeship' to be able to use tools. The Ryver forums are a great place to discuss issues and questions, and Litmis has provided a place to share open source projects. So the topic is: How can we provide resources and education on practices, tools and workflow for using open source projects, both for developers and managers?		Maybe			The community is growing quickly and IBM is doing a great job showing value to the community. Perhaps the next steps are to expand the 'word' of open source to outside the community - to traditional developers, to business managers, and to IBM i ISVs to promote and support open source projects.

But I'm not even sure this is a topic appropriate for this type of conference (see free-form comments question 12).	No				The efforts from the volunteer community are already more than I would have expected. I think open source on the i will simply take time to grow. I do think IBM and possibly other vendors could do more to help things along, mainly by greater promotion but also by porting more things to PASE.	It has been brought up several times by several people that open source on the i has a few different potential audiences. For example, one would be long-time midrangers just getting into open source, while another would be those already familiar with open source but new to IBM i. Different audiences have different interests and different requirements. I am guessing big COMMON events would be dominated by long-time midrangers with little previous exposure to open source, and if that is the case, then the topics relevant to open source should probably focus on relatively gentle introductions, not on nitty-gritty things like porting libraries to PASE.
