Last Saturday, your Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country opened the season on the hills of Brenham. Both teams performed well against some tough competition. The boys team placed 4th with the following earning medals. Bryan Mileski finishing 2nd and a new P.R and Riley Trent placing 9th and a new P.R. The Girls team placed 3rd overall with sisters, Laney Nash and Callen Nash placing 5th and 6th respectively for medals, with new P.R.'s. Their teammates performed well too, with many earning P.R.s. Last Thursday your JV boy and girl cross teams competed in the Waller Bulldog Races. The JV Girls team brought home the 2nd place trophy with the following girls medaling. Aly Stevens, Rylyn Bradford, Martha Johson, Brynn Johnson. The JV boys team did well with the following boys taking medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Fintan Lehman, Wes Hano and Jose Velasquez. Last night, your Cougar Fresman football teams traveled to Tomball Memorial to play two games against Willis. In the season opener , the Freshman White team showed dominance from start to finish highlighted on offense by Logan Nordenstam who scored two touchdowns. Bryce Hildegeist hauled in two great catches along with Jose mario Torres kicking two field goals to continue the momentum on Offense. On defense, it was a dominant ,all-around, team effort with great games being played by the entire linebacking corp , highlighted by interceptions Martin Rincon and Natheer Suied. The Freshmen white team won 26-6.
In the nightcap, the freshman red team saw themselves on the short end of a hard fought game losing to Willis 18-12. Matthew Gainey had a long touchdown run to go along with a nice touchdown pass to Colby Dawson. The defense showed true grit , battling until the last second, highlighted by impressive play by Keegan Demmer and Josh Olivo.

Last Saturday, your Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed at the Oak Ridge War Eagle Invitational. It was a great day to be a Cougar. The Varsity and Jv Girls both walked away with a Championship plaque. The Varsity and JV boys both placed second. 16 total individuals walked away with medals Saturday which would be the greatest number of medals ever won by Tomball Cross Country as a whole at one meet. This past Friday and Saturday, your Cougar Cross Country teams competed at the Grand Oak invitational where they impressively dominated the field. Friday, your boys JV team walked away with the team championship, while the JV girls team were a close Runner-up. On Saturday, your Varsity teams competed and both the Boys and Girls Varsity cross country teams walked away with the team championships. It was a very impressive weekend for these hard working individuals. Leading the way in the top 10 medal finishers were, on the Boys varsity squad, Bryan Mileski 1st, Riley Trent 3rd, Wyatt Lehmann 4th and Michael Muckler 5th. On the girls side, Laney Nash finished 2nd, Callen Nash placed 3rd and Marin Nordenstam 7th. Each week these individuals continue to improve and show their grit and determination. Way to go Cougs.

This past weekend, your Varsity Boys Cross Country team competed at the Magnolia - Run the Dog Pound Meet and walked away with the championship plaque. This is the 3rd win in as many weeks for the Boys. On the girls side, we were a little shorthanded, but Callen Nash, Allison Dougherty and Marin Nordenstam walked away with medals for their finishes. The JV Boys and Girls also walked away champions from the day before. It was a great day and the course was extremely fast as the majority of runners had personal records. Next week will be the District Meet, so we wish everyone well. Go Cougs.

The Boys Basketball Team will be having their 1st round of tryouts on Friday Oct. 30th from 2:45 - 4:30 and Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1 PM in the Competition Gym. On Wednesday, your Varsity Cross Country teams competed in the District Meet. The boys team advanced to the Regional Meet with a 2nd place finish. On the girls side, the team placed 4th overall, while Callen Nash advances as an individual to the Regional Meet. The JV boys and girls teams both placed 3rd overall, with Natheer Suied medaling in 10th place and Rylyn Bradford also medaling in 10th place. It was an outstanding two days for the Cougars as they showed their determination and grit, while competing against some of the best in Texas.

On Tuesday, your Cross Country Boys team competed at the Region 2 Cross Country Championship in Dallas. Competing for the first time in 6A, they placed a respectful 6th place out of 16 teams. From the team, Bryan Mileski placed 7th overall and earned a trip to the State Meet on Nov. 24th. On the girls side, Callen Nash was the only girl competing and she placed 11th, and she too earned a trip to the state meet. Both of these individuals competed last year at the 5A State Meet, but this year, they return to compete at the highest level. We wish them well as they continue to prepare and better themselves. Way to go Cougs.

This is the highest level of competition by a high school athlete in the state of Texas. Competing against 120 runners, Callen placed 41st and Bryan placed 29th. Thursday, the JV girls team competed against four other schools and when the dust settled, your JV girls track team one the meet. This was the first meet of the year and the girls did a great job. On Friday, we were host to the Cougar Relays. Eight teams were present that day partaking in the meet. There were many outstanding performances, team efforts and exciting events. Your Lady Cougars battled well all evening, but finished in the Runner up spot to a very good Bridgeland team. All in all, a lot of positives came about from this first meet. Way to go Cougs.
