Which tabs should I reference?Stack ranked CDs (congressional districts) is the most important tab. We prioritize districts that have the greatest number of competitive races up and down the ballot. Each row also contains relevant demographic information for that particular congressional district. NOTE: The competitiveness points are weighted, so that a federal race is given more points than a statewide race.
3
How can I change the weight given to a particular race?Head to the Weights tab. We generally give more weight to federal races than statewide races. If you'd like to play around with these weights, create a copy of this document via "File > Make a copy" and edit the "weight" column in the Weights tab.

How were competitiveness rankings for presidential, gubernatorial, and congressional (senate, house) races determined?Rankings for these races were obtained from handicapping reports from Cook's Political Report. The tab cook_imports contains a list of these races along with their rankings according to Cook's with links to the reports where this information was obtained.
5
How were competitiveness rankings for attorney general (AG) and secretary of state (SOS) races determined? Rankings for these elections were obtained from the UVA Center for Politics handicapping report. For details, see sos_ag_statechamber_import tab.
6
How were competitiveness rankings for state legislative chambers determined? Rankings for these elections were obtained from the UVA Center for Politics handicapping report. For details, see sos_ag_statechamber_import tab.
7
How were competitiveness rankings for state trifectas determined? These are obtained from the Ballotpedia. A state trifecta means the governor and state legislative chambers are the same party. For details, see state_trifectas_import tab.
8
How are the scores for the ballot measures determined?VoteAmerica evaluated statewide ballot measures related to various topics that are likely to affect the lives of citizens, including: Abortion access, Bail, Ballot measure supermajority, Criminal sentencing, Ranked-choice voting, Redistricting, Religion in schools, Sex and gender, Voter citizenship, Voter ID, Voter registration, Wealth taxes. We incorporated any ballot measures we judged to be high-impact. Because our organization focuses on voting, ballot measures related to voting were given a higher base score.
