What is SCALE?
8
In 2013, Argidius launched a strategy to improve the effectiveness and reach of development services targeting small and growing businesses (SGB).
9
The aim is to enable business development service (BDS) organizations and their funders, to improve support effectiveness to enterprises by implementing what works.
10
SCALE is a set of evidence-based considerations that organizations can take ownership of and adapt to their needs and context, rather than a framework or a one size fits all solution.
11
It is not necessary to implement all five considerations to see improvements in performance and impact. However, the considerations can reinforce one another.

26
To help BDS providers assess how their programs and organizational practices are aligned with what works and identify areas of opportunity to improve
27
28
How to navigate this tool:
29
There are a total of 7 tabs
30
Start with the instructions: tab #2 for funders and tab #3 for BDS providers
31
Next, use tabs #4 and #5 to assess your organization against SALE considerations, and a gender and social inclusion lenses
32
In tab #6 (in case you cannot see it, click on the arrow on the left of tab #1), you will find a dashboard where you can see the summary of your assessment on a single page. This is helpful if you are assessing multiple programs (BDS providers) or numerous organizations simultaneously (funders). It is also helpful in case you decide to do yearly assessments and want to contrast results.
33
Lastly, tab #7 is a space for notes and reflections. You can also use it to write down priorities you defined based on the results of the assessment
