|7:00 AM Sat Apr 1||California Classic||Pay-to-Ride Event - Registration at californiaclassicweekend.com - The organizers of this annual ride expect 2000 riders for the three bike ride options: century, metric century, and a shorter ride. Ride information packets to be picked up on Friday, the evening before the ride (check web site). Riders should gather at Chukchansi Park at 6:30 am. The start will be at 7:00am sharp! The CHP will lead the group out to the McKinley on ramp for Hwy 168. The century will climbs Elwood Road out of Piedra up to Squaw Valley; the metric is a long 60 mile flat route that goes east on Belmont to Trimmer Springs Road and loops back south of Sanger. Entry fee is $80.|

Are you looking for an alternate ride for this Saturday morning on the same day that the California Classic heads out? Deborah and Nancy are riding the Circuit leaving Armstrong and Herndon at 8:30 a.m. Ride up to Millerton Store, cross the plateau in front to Table Mountain, and take a break at the Shell Station in Friant. Finish the ride up Friant Road.

Join Nancy at Clovis East High School at the SE parking lot just north of Ashlan on Leonard. Ride out the back roads to Sanger for a stop at the local Starbucks. After a refreshment stop, continue into the river bottom east of town. Ride a circular loop through Centerville and back up Ashlan to the start.

Join Ken and Nancy at Shaw and Academy for our monthly trek out Belmont to Piedra. Brief stops at Belmont to regroup and at the packing shed at the base of the hills. Enjoy a longer break at Tivy Market. Continue riding up the hill, past the horse farm, and back down Belmont to the Blossom Trail Cafe for lunch. Finish the ride up the Academy bike lane back to the start.

Meet Priscilla and Nancy at the Starbucks in Fowler. We'll ride up Clovis Avenue south toward Laton, following the backroads into Hanford. Plan on a lunch stop at Superior's Dairy or a least a big scoop of their delicious ice cream. This is a long flatland ride through dairyland and farmland.

Join Nancy at the post office in Piedra. Ride up to Trimmer and back on this ride that has 1800 ft of climbing. The long climb up to Oak Knowls is 2 miles with a good 6% to 8% grade. The rest is easier. Views are spectacular with the lake full this year and the wild flowers in beautiful bloom. Bring lots of water and snacks.

Meet Brian and Gary at Armstrong and Herndon for this springtime loop up through the lower foothills to Millerton Store, Humphrey's Station, and Pittman Hill with the return down Watts Valley Road to Ashlan. The ride starts at 8:30 am with Brian leading the C riders and Gary bringing up the rear with the B's. There are no services at Humphrey's (so bring lost lots of water and snacks) but, there is a restroom at the fire station next door. Rain cancels!

So, this entry level ride that begins at Armstrong and Herndon and heads out to the Red Caboose at Shaw and Academy for breakfast is just such a ride. So, if you have wanted to join club rides at an easy pace, here is the one for you!

Al Graves and Hilton Bicycle invite all club members to join them for a split level BC ride in the Coalinga area. Hilton will lead the faster riders from Harris Ranch, leaving at 8:30 sharp. Al will meet his "more normal" riders at West Hills College Rodeo Park at 8:45 with a roll out at 9:00 a.m. Both rides will head up Los Gatos Canyon Road to Lost Gatos Park for the turnaround. Restrooms will be available only at Harris Ranch and the Rodeo Park.

Meet Brian at the Chuck Wagon on Academy and Annadale in Sanger. Ride out through Centerville with a stop at the packing shed. Continue past Piedra to the Tivy Market for a short break. Climb the hill, pass Sherwood Forest Golf Course, up Reed and then Annadale back to the start. Plan on lunch at the Chuck Wagon on the return.

2017 Tour de Lakes: This Fresno Cycling Club Summer Ride is open to club members. The faster riders will start at the Park-n-Ride, one mile east of Shaver on the Dinkey Creek Road at 8:00 a.m. The slower, B riders can begin at the Dinkey Creek Bridge 11.2 miles east on the Dinkey Creek Rd. Six miles east of this location will be our one rest stop at McKinley Grove (both coming and going). There is an option to ride up to Courtwright for those really eager for that extra climbing and longer mileage!
