Library used for all athletes signing letters of intention with press coverage; veteran's talks, NHS tea and ice cream social, guest speakers and authors (in school field trip) and after school clubs and tutors. We are really aiming for a true learning commons model with the library as a gathering hub of activity before during and after school. Space should be the largest classroom with flexible movable configurations to meet all needs.

I have a medium-sized office. The other offices off of the media center have been turned into special education classrooms. There is a large back room (1500 square feet) that is currently used for storage, but we have submitted a budget proposal to turn this into a computer lab. We still have a sizable print collection, although I'm slowly reducing it and moving to online nonfiction books, and our computers are in constant use. There is often an overflow of study hall students and classes- we often run out of computers for everyone, and the room gets crowded. We are hoping that adding a lab will alleviate many of those space issues.

No- we are trying to build an addition for next year.

I have a small office that I seldom use (more for storage than office), a larger storage room which has been used at times as a distance learning room, a tutorial room, etc., a small "workroom" which is really the server room with a few shelves and a small table. I also control a computer lab which is located on the floor above the library.

Just let me know if you'd like additional details, Sara. I'm rushing right now but I'd be happy to provide you with any info you need. - Janice

Additionally, we have a conference room off the library; however, this room is booked by the office.

The main area includes 25 computers on tables, 6 low bookcase units, and 8 tables with seating. I have been weeding the collections since I arrived here last school year as so many of the non-fiction books were outdated. I have also been moving reference books into the nonfiction and totally eliminating reference. Additionally, I have created several areas of books by genre to make it more like a bookstore and less like a stuffy library. The students love being able to find what they are after with ease.janmarie.weston@ct.gov1970s
