220 packed into a corridor 5’9” wide? Can I have “Things That Are Deadly” for $200, Alex? The baggage check in area are 4 storage containers welded together. Avelo couldn’t staff a taco truck, much less an airport baggage check/customer service counter. 25 people in line and there’s ONE person checking people in before the line grew to 50 and a second person showed up. The PA system for announcements is terrible, the Avelo agent resorted to yelling to be heard. You’re trying to pack too many people into that airport with 2-3 outbound and inbound flights stacked within minutes of each other to maximize profit but only creating confusion, chaos and a hazardous environment. And don’t even get me started on parking! Holy hell! If you’re going to schedule 10 flights a day, you need twice the parking you have now. It would be easier to farm out half your business to Groton/ New London where they have an actual building. Get it together Tweed!!

Flight attendants were incredibly rude and dismissive of passengers. Cheap direct flights though. You get what you paid for… the bare minimum maybe less

this airport, although small and convenient is not an ideal choice, especially if you had unforeseen circumstances beyond your control that may impact your arrival. the TSA is not equipped for the amount of travelers queuing, bag check-in lines are almost always out into the parking lot, and avelo’s team of employee’s are clueless, rude, and have the absolute worst attitudes. although hartford is out of my way, i will be using that airport going forward.

Had a 7:54 flight with BREEZE. ITS 9:58 I'm still here. Thankful the tweed staff was great. Hosting us for longer. No thanks to BREEZE. My car rental was lost and they want to charge me more. YOU ASK ME MY FLIGHT AND CAR RENTAL SHOULD BE ON BREEZES DIME!


Ended up boarding the plane @ 1AM and got to my destination @ 5AM. We got to the airport the day of my flight at 5:30 PM. They told us it was the weather. The airport told us there was a problem with the crew and they had to find a new crew. So..........................

Everytime i fly out of this airport it’s delayed hours. Sitting on a plane today for 2 hours with no ac for them to say we can’t leave unless 7 passengers get off due to needing more fuel. This shouldn’t even be an airport. The gate is a pod that fits 10 people when hundreds of people stand around clueless.

Tweed is an extremely small airport, and you have to drive through a neighborhood to get there. It is a bit disorganized, and there's not much seating. It's a little confusing if you've never been there before. On the plus side, the flights are cheaper than most big airlines.

I’m writing to formally express our deep frustration and disappointment regarding the experience my family had at Tweed New Haven Airport today, August 3rd, for the Avelo flight scheduled to depart to Tampa around 2:00 PM.


We arrived at the airport with ample time to check in, only to be met with a disorganized and overwhelming line that stretched over an hour out into the parking lot. My wife and I were traveling with our three children and a month’s worth of luggage. Despite our efforts to move through the process quickly, we were told that the cargo had closed just 10 minutes before we reached the counter.


What makes this especially upsetting is that no staff informed the guests in line about this critical cutoff, even though the flight was showing a 37-minute delay via FAA systems. We were told by staff that the flight was not delayed because “the system said so,” which directly contradicted publicly available information.


To add further stress, this flight had previously been moved up by two hours from its original scheduled time—an already inconvenient change. Ultimately, we were forced to miss our flight due to a combination of unclear communication, poor staffing, and lack of customer support. We are now driving two hours to catch a last-minute Southwest flight as a last resort.


We have had an absolutely miserable experience today—one that reflects poorly on both Avelo and Tweed Airport operations. We understand that unexpected situations arise, but the lack of transparency and support today was unacceptable.

The location is so convenience. The airport will be expanding soon, hopefully providing more flights to popular locations such as PR. Easy departure and arrival. Don’t let this fool you, still need to be two hours before your flight. Personally I prefer three hours, remember you are not the only person traveling, extra time is always helpful. Long term parking is a bit princely.

We originally were scheduled to leave from New Haven to San Juan on July 25th. Then that flight was cancelled and changed to July24th due to Avelo removing Friday flights to PR. Our flight on the 24th was also cancelled due to not having a crew to fly the plane and they added a late flight on Friday the 25th to accommodate us. Our return flight was also rescheduled to August 2 to leave San Juan at 11:41am to New Haven, CT. Here we are now 7:56pm as our flight was delayed multiple times and now scheduled to leave at 9:59pm. This was our first and now our last time flying Avelo. They book way to many flights in one day and can not accommodate them all as the airport is small and therefore needing to constantly cancel and delayy flights. Horrible horrible experience!!

What was supposed to be a weekend getaway for my best friend and I turned into an absolute nightmare before it even began, due to this airline.
We arrive two hours early before our departure time for 7am. In all honesty, dropping our luggage and going through TSA was a breeze, but when we entered the area to wait for the gates to open we were told AT TIME OF BOARDING that there the amount of weight from all the passengers supposedly boarding was too heavy, and asked for volunteers to give up their seat for the next available flight, which would have been three days later. No one budged. Every 30-40mins, they offered a “voucher” to those willing to give up their seats and every time they offered the voucher the price of the voucher would increase. It went all the way up to $2500. Keep in mind this voucher could only be used through Avelo. After 5 hours of waiting for them to decide who would randomly be selected to no go on their well deserved flight, we were brought on board to be seated. Once we were seated on the plane, we waited 30 minutes and were then told that there weren’t enough flight attendants and were told to get off the plane. I am currently sitting here waiting for an estimated time as to when my flight is scheduled, as they have no idea whether it will be today, tomorrow morning or in 3 days. As we’re sitting here, we’re being told by one woman we can leave if we’d like but there’s no one here available to take our luggage out. There is no supervisors/management for us to speak to. And let’s not talk about to money wasted on the reservations I made once we landed.
Price may seem worth it, but the headache and waste of time and money is not. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.


Edit: I’ve been here for 3 hours waiting for an update on my flight, no update, and the same thing has now happened to another flight.

I absolutely do not like giving a bad review but after two bad experiences I just want to give the community a little awareness about our experience.
In both cases we were told the weather was to blame. So I’m not sure if it’s true or if it’s located in a poor weather area.
Since the airport is so small, any delay means that the terminal is at “max capacity.” So if you’re just arriving to the airport, you now have to wait in a line for whatever time the delay is. There is no seating and you may be outside. You can’t go through TSA either.
If you need to go somewhere urgently, I wouldn’t recommend this airport. Spend a few more dollars to get a bigger airport because at least you’ll have more options to change a flight or at least have a comfortable area to wait with food and seating.

If you are considering taking a budget airline out of this terminal over other providers like Bradley or Providence, don’t. This is the most mismanaged and dirty airport I’ve ever had the displeasure of going to. No awning for check in (which occurs in construction trailers) so we enjoyed standing in the rain for an hour while awaiting check-in. We had our Avelo flight canceled after eight hours of delays. Once was enough, we won’t be back.

Coming in was a breeze. No pun intended. We took Breeze from Orlando landed and the luggage claim was right where we walked in. Then there is a bathroom a car rental counter and the doors to the outside that’s it. It was simple. Leaving was a different story. The line wrapped around the building outside. This airport is not equipped to have passengers for 4+ flights waiting to go through security and board. We were in line for over an hour in a hot side building with barely any circulating air. The line was wrapped outside and along the entire building into the parking lot. I have never seen anything like it. No communication just someone coming occasionally to ask for people who were on certain flights because the passengers were stuck in line and not inside ready to board. No restroom access so my son was having to hold it.
I will not be putting myself through this again.

The whole process was fairly easy, except for a lady named Patricia. She made getting on the airplane miserable. She was taking people out of line for bags that were already cleared as carry ons. She put several people in our party out of line , demanding bags were too big. (They weren’t) she managed to do it to an old lady who she bullied into paying at the gate and having her back pack become “checked luggage” which was then lost bc people don’t check backpacks. Patricia was literally a nightmare at the gate. Stay clear if you can.

This airport is too tiny for the massive groups of travelers they bring in. Ive seen the line a 3/4 mile past security out the door, and Im not even exaggerating. Not to mention the speaker system is awful, so it’s impossible to hear any updates over the mic. Cheap buys cheap. Pay the extra $59 etc and fly into BDL, and Breeze doesnt make things any easier when there are airport complications. I have been stranded at Tweed, and not due to lift, due to no available places in the area with vacancy unless you trust you will be refunded $500/night by the airline. Good luck!

Overcrowded and you have to wait in a line outside to check in. IMO there is not enough room in the departure terminal to handle the amount of people departing. The arrival terminal is also very small like 10000 square feet with a 50 foot long luggage conveyor. The Avelo flights are inexpensive but be prepared to be inconvenienced

Airport is good and easy to get to compared to NY airports. There are enough options now to fly out of HVN. Not much food options inside- just one kiosk. Very expensive. Prebooking for parking is actually more expensive than day rates.

It does not feel like this airport can safely handle the volume of passengers they allow through every day. (The photos do not even do it justice as to how crowded it was.) We had to wait in a carline for 15+ minutes while police directed traffic to even be able to get to the airport, then queue (partly outside) for 30+ minutes to check in/check bags. Once we were through security, there was nowhere to sit in the whole airport, then we were delayed for hours inside the airport and the airport a/c was out during a heatwave, but we couldn't leave because we were already through security - eventually employees opened a couple of windows at least. Communication regarding delays was virtually nonexistent, and it was pure chaos once it was time to board. They didn't even attempt to do boarding groups (probably due to the crowds), and it was difficult not to get trampled on the way. I do not plan to use this airport again.

This is a small airport trying to be too big. Half the airport is made of metal trailers. The gates are so crowded that many people were standing, waiting to board. There is only one coffee/sandwich counter, which doesn't help if you just wanted plane snacks or need something grab & go. The line for food was long. Parking is WAY overpriced!


There are no covered jetways which means you go outside and up metal stairs to board the plane. We all know how long it takes to board a plane, so this means you're outside in the CT weather for potentially 20 minutes. It was windy and cool when we flew and we were headed south and were not expecting this boarding process so we did not have jackets. I can only imagine if it had been raining or winter.


Finally, our experience with Avelo at Tweed was a nightmare. We sat on the plane for almost 5 hours. According to a Tweed employee, this happens to this same flight regularly. This seems to be an Avelo operational issue, but this doesn't speak well to the efficiency of the airport.


We tried Tweed to save money and get a direct flight to see family. The money we saved didn't end up being worth it. We will be back to flying from Bradley in the future.

Only positive here is affordable airlines, but as everyone else has stated the airport itself is terrible. Massively overcrowded, zero communication, and extremely rude staff. On top of all this, there is no organization for boarding, they pretty much board all at once including handicap and folks that need extra time. This resulted in us standing outside in pouring rain while they boarded priority customers. I would give it negative stars, but…..


I will definitely NOT be flying through Tweed ever again.

It's a tiny airport. Prices for the airlines are comparable to the service and organization you get... Meh. Not enough seating. There's no semblance of orderly lines, just chaos. There's a bar and food stand, where the line is very long.

I have used Tweed several times starting in 2023. Now that they have flights to several destinations within an hour of each other it's complete chaos departing. They're 2 hour checked bag rule is no joke, they will not take you if you're a minute late. I've seen it every single time where people get turned away and the airline is no help rebooking the flight. I suggest no checked bag at all either way at Tweed. (final warning)
Landing at Tweed is crazier than you can imagine especially if you're renting a car. There are to many people and not enough inside space. During the cold weather, rain and summer you're in trouble waiting outside for rides. They don't have seats or an overhang to protect you from the elements. It's unorganized, slow and except for a few it's unfriendly. There's also no Uber available here only Lyft. I've learned the biggest mistake here is checking bags. You will wait forever if you do that. There's no bag area and the luggage just piles up in the middle of the mini terminal. It's insane.
Today July 10th was the worst. You waited in line in the heat for over 55 minutes just to get inside. The new flight schedule every 15 minutes is impossible. Please stop.

En nuestro vuelo de regreso, nos tardamos en hacer checking 1h y 30 min ya que solamente habían 2 personas para todos los vuelos, la fila se hace casi en las afueras del lugar y realmente es incomodo. Una vez dentro casi ni puedes sentarse de lo pequeño que es. No tiene power en los asientos de espera así que trata cargar tu cell antes. Ojo si vas a aparcar asegúrate de reservar tu parking porque tienen muy pocos lotes. Soy musico y viajamos con Avelo , la experiencia de mi vida, en todas las aerolinieas mi violin cuenta como Backpack o equipaje personal menos en esta , tienes que pagar extra o en algunos casos ni tan siquiera llevarla arriba, algo que no toma espacio.

I love it. Is really small but that make easy everything. No long lines. If you think to rent is better there because the reservation are no the best. And lobby small, so don’t confuse because is a line for coffee and some people looks like a line to boarding but they just waiting because no place to sit in the lobby.

Departure terminal is grossly over the posted fire marshal's capacity signs and people are sitting everywhere. There are no covered awnings awnings and if it is raining, you will probably get wet. If you have bags to check, you do that first at the airline counter in the portable building, then go back outside and possibly stand in another line in the weather just to check your bag with TSA, then stand in another line outside to go through TSA screening. If you are flying between New Haven and wherever you are going, perhaps Tweed still makes sense, just know what you are getting into and be sure to arrive 2-3 hours ahead of time if there is more than 1 flight/hour. Also, there is no family bathroom but there is a nursing room room with a sink that small children can do a #1 in.


Nothing embodies the total failure of CT gov't officials more than not being able to provide a functional airport to meet the needs of it's citizens, but these folks up here absolutely deserve this dumpster of an airport and I've been to some really bad airports. It is funny to watch NIMBY in action. They should re-examine their chosen party in the ballot box but I doubt they have the mental capacity to understand that.

Avoid this place of you can. The fire Warden needs to pay this place a visit. Not enough seats for people. The walk ways are full of people who can't find seat and the AC cannot keep up with the people here. This place is a joke. Worst airport I have ever been in.

Absolute NIGHTMARE. Pure chaos and significant disorganization. Honestly too much to even type the amount of issues. Rude staff, way over crowded, very disorganized. Flight ended up being delayed over 5 hours. I have never seen such a structureless airport. I’d give 0 starts if I could. Worst airport I’ve ever traveled through, hands down! 10/10 would NOT recommend. Save yourself the trouble and fly out of ANYWHERE else .

Small local airport with very inexpensive flights now serviced by Avelo & Breeze Airlines. Traffic/parking can be heavy during holidays and school vacations. Very convenient, much better than flying out of Hartford or New York. They have planned a new terminal which is badly needed.

Small airport that's getting way too busy for it's space. Parking is tough and TSA is overwhelmed. Make sure you get there at least 2 hours early for a flight.
