Q: May students be enrolled in the Virtual Academy and take classes at the OEC?

A: Students who attend classes at OEC must be enrolled in traditional classes at the DCHS campus.

Q: Will my student need the supplies on the supply list for his or her grade level?

A: Yes. They will need the supplies on the list to complete learning activites as if they were in a regular classroom. Example: They may have to draw a life cycle of a butterfly, take a picture of it, and download the picture to a file for the teacher to grade. Materials might include markers, colored pencils, or crayons.

Q: With Virtual Learning do you meet for several hours on the computer?

A: You may expect your student to be engaged in an avaerage of four hours of learning a day. Teachers will be contacting students based on their internet connectivity.

Q: May students with an IEP be fully enrolled in the Virtual Academy?

A: Yes. You will need to have an IEP meeting to make adjustments for the virtual learning. Please contact our special education department for more details.

Q: Does a parent of multiple students need to complete a separate Virtual Academy application for each student or just one application for all of the family's students?

A: Yes, it is one form per student so that it can be shared with the teacher of student

Q: Do you have to meet on the computer (like Zoom) or are the assignments online?

A: Yes, you will meet with your teacher and at times other students by zoom and through the Learning Management System, Canvas as well as through e-mails and phone calls when participating in virtual as well as blended learning.

Q: There are 5 children in the home & we are trying to figure out if we can do the virtual learning. There would be 3 doing the virtual learning & we dont want them distracted by the other children. Thank you for your help!๐Ÿ˜Š

A: You should plan on each student having four hours of virtual learning a day. It is suggested you have a designated area in your home for school and that may be a special place the other two visit.
