4/23/2023 20:30:31Tracey DoeringGreat planned analysis-look forward to results. Will many of these pts have terminal illnesses, or are these are more common readmissions pts such as CHF? I believe you showed that primary and readmission diagnoses will be studied. Hey Dr. Doering, yes we are nearing the final steps of data collection. Most patients will have common readmission reasons such as CHF, pneumonia, GI illness. Thank you!

4/30/2023 17:25:19David WhetstoneIt seems that you have many variables to try and address, and perhaps you could simplify and look at spiritual care, palliative care, or next site of care individually in terms of your outcome analysis to make the research more clear. (ie " Does palliative care involvement at anchor admission limit readmissions for Medicare patients?"). Just a suggestion as the title is a bit vague and understandably so as you are tackling many different aspects of readmission. I look forward to your research completionThank you! Yes there are many variables to try to address, which is both a challenge and an exciting part of this project. We will look a botht individual assocations between services and readmissions, as well as their utilization in combination and readmissions (for example patients with only palliative involvement vs both palliative and spiritual care involvement).

5/1/2023 7:48:42Jarett WordenThis is a very thought provoking and interesting retrospective analysis. The purpose and design of the study is very clear, and the impact is clearly defined. I will be interested to see the results (both primary and secondary). These sorts of consults are often overlooked in their importance for the holistic care of a patient during hospitalization and I think this will add valuable data to the conversation and medical literature.Yes I agree, a lot of times the focus is on treating the problem/diagnosis, and there may not be much time to focus on impact on spiritual/mental well-being. Involvement of chaplains/palliative care a lot of times can help place things in perspective for both patients and providers and ultimately helps patients get care consistent with their goals. Thank you!

5/2/2023 15:04:36Geoff SmallwoodThanks for exploring this important topic. It's gratifying to see the attention to the emotional consequences of readmission events and I'm looking forward to all the lessons learned after the data input step. The potential to act on those results is increased by the importance Ascension places on this so it will be exciting to see where we head with this and what we can achieve.

5/3/2023 14:00:23Greg JamesI look forward to seeing the outcomes of your study - can't imagine that a more holistic approach not contributing to a reduction in readmissions, but we will see. Thank you!
