The data we have on the “Joker” is unique and presents trends in its usage across Jordan. It shows that in 2013, there is “no information” which is due to the fact that it was only made illegal in 2015. In 2014, 15,919 bags of Joker were confiscated by security forces, and once officially illegalised in 2015, this number decreased to 9,008 (by 43%). However, despite this illegalisation, 2017-2018 showed an average increase as its affordable, easily made and addictive presence became more known and accessible in society (by 33% from its illegalisation in 2015).
