The UNM NSBE chapter will be representing The University of New Mexico at the NSBE Nationl Convention in Chicago, Illinois during the dates of March 5th - 9th. We are planning on sending 18 students and the estimated cost of attendance is $1015 per student. The estimated cost includes registration ($275), travel ($515), and housing ($225). The annual NSBE National Convention is the premier event for NSBE members, offering workshops, panels, and career fairs centered on inspiring the engineers of tomorrow. It’s a rare opportunity for minority students with similar majors and goals to connect, gain representation, and secure internships or jobs to advance their careers. The convention also fosters the motivation needed to continue pursuing STEM paths. Our chapter proudly supports a local NSBE Jr. chapter, Justice Code, in various competitions including VEX Robotics, the Supercomputing Challenge, KidWind, and FIRST LEGO League. From September through May, we dedicate our Saturdays to mentoring and guiding Justice Code’s 3rd–12th grade teams as they prepare for and participate in both local and state competitions, as well as the national NSBE convention. Many of our members serve as head and assistant coaches, playing a vital role in the development and success of over five teams. UNM NSBE's involvement has been instrumental in their growth, both during the preparation phase and at competitive events.
