This quick fund due diligence checklist has been prepared by Angel Investor School as a guide to the documentation and requirements of information you could request as a potential investor in a fund.

In no way this will be an exhaustive list as to the documentation that is available or that you could potentially request or check.

Please also bear in mind that for very early stage companies there will not be much information available, as may happen with new General Partners starting new funds. So, as with any other early stage investment, there is a huge risk associated.

And remember, investing in startups implies a very, very high degree of risk and over 90% of startups fail.

Some of our speakers spend more than 200 hours on due diligence, so this should not be taken lightly. However, for funds, you rely and invest directly on experts, so your due diligence of them can be much more limited as if you were investing directly in a startup.
