International FoodsMr. AumanThe International Foods & Baking Club extends learning beyond the classroom by providing students with authentic, hands-on experiences that connect food, culture, creativity, and collaboration. Students explore global cuisines while developing culinary skills, practicing teamwork, strengthening communication, and learning the value of responsibility and perseverance. Through these experiences, students gain an appreciation for cultural diversity, build confidence in their abilities, and develop life skills that prepare them to become compassionate, responsible, and globally engaged citizens.The club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will be required to arrive between 7:15 am -7:30 am. This is a semester long club and a new session will start after the winter break. Start date September 1.

Battle of the BooksMrs. EvansThe Middle School Battle of the Books (MBOB) club encourages a lifelong love of reading, sharpens reading comprehension, and builds teamwork through a quiz-bowl style competition based on a curated list of literature. MBOB encourages students to read widely across diverse genres, authors, and viewpoints, directly reinforcing academic achievement and critical thinking. Additionally, it exposes students to award-winning and high-quality young adult literature that they might not otherwise choose.Due to significant student interest in BOB at Harris Road, we open participation to all students in grades 6, 7, and 8 from mid-September through early December. Depending on initial enrollment, we meet two or three times weekly throughout the fall. Students form teams and compete in mock competitions across grade levels, ensuring all interested participants feel included in the program.
In early December, all students take a written assessment based on the year's reading list. We select the 12 highest-scoring students and announce the final team before the Winter Holiday.
