Acting01what I can do with this spreadsheet: show that most of these mechanics are not necessarily 4x, but are often deployed for 4xthe exceptions show that even most of the 4x mechanics can be deployed in a non-4x wayi could store all of the mechanics and categories in a dictionary, with the row as the tag. then each game has a rank, title, list of tags, number of 4x tags... ideally on another sheet i have a count of all tags to see how often they occur. then you could have some interesting data of like rank vs explore or whatever

Area-Impulse41Most mechanics with the "exterminate" tag do not need to be tied to war, but historically are. You can assume that if there isn't a reasoning for an Exterminate tag, it falls into this category or is literally about war.

Automatic Resource Growth31Things are always being created and destroyed in our planetary system, but we are concerned with those things being framed as resources to be exploited.

Income31Similar to automatic resource growth, income is "generated." Thus we ask: where does this money come from, and how is it earned? We often find that this income is not in fact generated but rather alienated from the laborers working to actually create this value. This alienation we consider exploitation.
