OK, there was someone deleting the page, this is why I had to restrict the upper 2 bars on this page
(Someone) Just to get an idea of who’s contributing to this spreadsheet, may you all share your locations (city where you live in is enough)? All of the people will be anonymous, so none of this information can be traced down to someone.
Is your location/residency 3D on Google Earth?
Conception Bay South, Newfoundland

WHATS THIS AND HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE TO IT?: If you find a 3D-Area in Google Earth which is not covered in our KMZ-File, please add a line in the current month sheet. But please check if it has already been posted. If there's no name right to it, you may draw it if you like and send it to the given mail adress. Thank you
THIS IS ABOUT HOW TO CONTINUE WITH THIS FILE AND THE COLLECTION OF 3D KMLS IN GENERAL
BECAUSE AS YOU MAY HAVE HEARD THE GOOGLE EARTH BLOG IS DISCONTINUED
How would one send their outlines to the dynamic file?
-if there is someone who is familiar with working on this file, he or she just should get all kml's mailed
-if we cant find someone, the files should be mailed to me (I would create a new mail adress) and then I will upload them to a cloud service where everyone can download them is single KML's
-or in case Timothy continues, maybe nothing will change, we will see in the next days maybe
(Franky) I will organize an email-adress and cloud space for all new KML files next week, in case there happen no further updates on the network file.
(Franky) I organized an email-adress and a webspace for the meantime...
(Franky) Please send your files (all that are absent in the "old" file) to firstname.lastname@example.org
(Franky) Here you find the new network file: http://ge-3d.batcave.net/new_map.kml or here for download: https://goo.gl/DRXg8i
(Jacob) If Timothy does not continue, should we create a site just for 3D hunting?
(Marc) I cant make the site myself, but this ^^ is a good idea.
(Jacob) We could always create a Google Site as it is free and only requires a Google account. It would be best to wait for a response from Timothy before doing so.
(Jacob) I have been trying to create a direct link to download the new map - please try this link:
<- This link is an empty KML
(Marc) Well, it certainly works, so we would have to encorperate that into the google site im guessing?
(Jacob) Yes, if it goes ahead. Right now I will replace the broken links in this document.
(Jacob) Possible features for a new site:
- Link to the map
- Area covered (total, by region, by month/year)
- Copy of tutorials
- Links to related Google Earth Blog features (i.e. spliting/combining polygons)
- Comments page
- Links to tours of areas of outstanding beauty (i.e. Monasterio de Montserrat, Schloss Neuschwanstein)
(Jacob) Feel free to make any other suggestions for a possible new site, but please note that this is only in the proposal stage and has yet to receive approval from Timothy or Frank.
(Marc) I like how the possible features are laid out
(Franky) I like your idea of a new site, this would definetely be a win. Unfortunately I'm not well experienced in those things
(Jacob) I am learning how to create Google Sites. You would not need any knowledge of coding to edit. I figure that I will set up a site when I have the time, then invite you, Marc, Timothy and Frank Taylor (assuming everyone listed is interested) to edit the site.
(Jacob) If anyone has any good names for a site, I would appreciate the suggestion. If we do not hear from Timothy by sometime in October, I may start the site anyways.
(Franky) *Thumbs up* And in this case, I will include the "old" shapes in the new network file
(Jacob) The earliest we should do this (since the map was Timothy's idea and the main file is still owned by him) is November 1st.
(Jacob) If anyone has any good names for the new site, please list some below.
(Marc) "Google Earth Stereophotogrammery Areas" maybe, but it is kind of a boring name, so we may need more suggestions
(Jacob) If we shorten it to Google Earth Photogrammetry it might be good enough. Thank you for the suggestion.
(Jacob) I still welcome other suggestions.
(Marc) No problem, and I think photogrammerty sounds better than stereophotogrammetry anyway
(Timothy Whitehead) Appologies for not checking in on this page in a while. I have been busy. It appears that some fans have arranged to contine the 3D file. I was not sure if I would have time to do so, so I welcome such a development. I will send through the outlines I have in the queue in case they haven't already been sent. I will also make available some of the tools I use, although they are not particularly well documented.
(Jacob) Welcome back, Timothy. Will you set up the site, or will I still do that? Are you still using your gearthblog email?
(Marc) Has the site been created?
(Jacob) All I know is that I have not created it.
(Jacob) Maybe this spreadsheet should be renamed to simply "3D Google Earth Updates" since not all updates listed here will be drawn.
(Marc) So how to create the site? I need the help from Franky, Jacob and Timothy to create the site.
(Marc) I created the site we need help from Jacob, Franky and Timothy to continue.
(Franky) I'd be glad to help, will have some time tomorrow.
(Franky) I have statistics of all areas per month and per country and could share this to the new site. I like the site-features proposed by Jacob
(Jacob) I really like how the site is progressing - I just cleaned up the tutorials section.
(Marc) I need for the site area covered (total, by region, by month/year) and comments page.
(Franky) I will share this information later today
(Franky) Which of these 2 Sites is the "right" one? "Ph" or "stereophotogrammetry123456"? I got invitation to both sites by Manolache
(Marc) So how to get all the areas from the old kml to new kml ("Sorted by country", "Sorted by date")
(Franky) I will integrate the old one into the new one, both only by date, and will opload two options, with and without the "old" shapes
(Franky) Integrated the old one in the new one, quite big file though
(Marc) I see, nice to have it all in one place now. :D
(Marc) by the way, anyone have any ideas as to why it doesn't work for me in the web version of GE?
(Jacob) Was this before of after the file was suspended?
(Marc) suspended? i dont know exactly what youre asking, but THIS download (New Map) never worked in the web version, and only Timothy's original from the GE blog worked
(Jacob) I do not know why it has never worked in the web version, but the main file has been suspended and will not be available again until December 1st. I will look into it when the file is available again.
(Marc) The KML file is too big with 10MB, so will try to get it into KMZ format which is 2 MB.
(Marc) oh yeah, i know what you mean by suspended. im an idiot. it was before
(Franky) As today, already 2.4 of 5 GB traffic for December is reached. File size is 10MB, I uploaded a KMZ version of about <3MB of size, Jacob, could you please change to link from .KML to KMZ? That would improve situation. Everybody please do not refresh too often, otherwise we need to find another solution
(Franky) the link in the network file must be changed from https://ge-3d.batcave.net/GE-3D.kml to https://ge-3d.batcave.net/GE-3D.kmz
(Jacob) Good news! With the release of Google Earth Pro 7.3.1, the low-resolution glitches (which afflicted areas such as Llanberis, the Amalfi Coast, and Mount St. Helens) no longer appear to occur.
(Jacob) Hello Franky, what is your opinion of my new pages (KMZ Errors, and Areas to Watch)? Also, do you think that we should delete errors recorded on normal pages and copy them to KMZ Errors?
(Someone) In KMZ Errors: there are areas with inner rings (ex: Heraklion, Greece; Zakynthos, Greece, Athens, Greece; Larissa, Greece, etc.). Hi, Jacob can you draw these inner rings?
(Jacob) I will be busy until Friday this week, and I probably will not get to it until then. If you, or someone else could draw them and send them to me, I would be able to do them a lot faster as I would only have to encode the coordinates. A path or polygon would suffice.
No links are working at the moment.
(Franky) we lost the KMZ file link to download, linking to the network KMZ, someone deleted it (Franky) for the moment, download the New Map, go to properties and change to link to "https://ge-3d.batcave.net/GE-3D.kmz "
(Franky) Jacob, could you please repost the link?
(Jacob) Why is there a Google Form attached to this document? It has been for a while.
