| HOW TO READ THESE ANONYMIZED LOTTERY RESULTS
| ||||||
| The results for all lotteries run by the City of Boston after September 13, 2023 will be posted online.
| Give us feedback on these lottery results here!
| ||||||
| WHAT ARE LOTTERY RESULTS?
| Lottery results are the sorted and ranked lists of applications after the housing lottery.
| If there are different unit types (different number of bedrooms, different maximum incomes), the lottery will generate multiple lists - one list for each type of unit in the building.
| ||||||
| WHAT IS A LOTTERY LIST?
| A lottery list provides Agents with a specific order to move forward with applicants.
| ||||||
| Agents will invite applicants in the order they appear on the list to tour a unit or review unit plans, and proceed with the application process.
| ||||||
| Each tab in this spreadsheet is a lottery list.
| ||||||
| Each list reflects all units in that building that share similar bedroom counts and income requirements.
| ||||||
| 1. NUMBER OF BEDROOMS
| 2BR - Two bedrooms | |||||
| ||||||
| 2. % AMI (INCOME LIMIT)
| Income limit is based on the number of people in your household (including non-wage earners, like young children) and the percentage of area median income (AMI) the unit is restricted to through the program.
| From your lottery application, we estimated your household income, and converted it to a percent of the “Area Median Income” or AMI.
| Your AMI is a measure of how much your household earns per year compared to the average household of the same size in Greater Boston.
| For example, if your household income is at 70% of AMI, your household makes 70% of the average annual income for a similarly sized household in Greater Boston.
| This AMI percentage determines which units you qualify for.
| A household meets the unit’s income eligibility if their AMI is below the unit’s stated threshold.
| For example, if your household’s income is at 65% of AMI, you would be eligible for a 70% AMI unit, but not a 60% AMI unit.
| AMI is measured by household. You can estimate your Area Median Income Band here.
| ||||||
| 3. GEN (GENERAL LIST OF APPLICANTS)
| GEN indicates a list of all applicants Boston residents and non-Boston residents
| ||||||
| ||||||
| Note: The number in parentheses (#) at the end of each tab name represents the number units of that Unit Type available through the lottery.
| ||||||
| HOW DO I FIND MY APPLICATION IN A LOTTERY LIST?
| After the housing lottery, you were sent a lottery number over an email (if you provided an email address on your application) or mail (if you did not provide an email).
| You can find your lottery number in Column A of each lottery list.
| As these lists are public and anonymous, you will NOT be able to find your name or other personally-identifying information other than your lottery number.
| ||||||
| If you cannot locate your lottery number, please contact your Agent. 781-853-1841 & eastiegrace@gmail.com
| ||||||
| ||||||
| WHAT RANK AM I ON THE LOTTERY LIST?
| Your row number is your current rank on the lottery list.
| Your lottery number does NOT represent your rank on the lottery list.
| For example, if your lottery number is 32 and it appears on Row 8, you are 8th on the lottery list and there are 7 applications ahead of yours on that list
| ||||||
| This is because the lottery lists take into account preferences such as the following
| ||||||
| Boston Residency Preference: Boston residents have priority status for IDP units over other applicants.
| Minimum One Person Per Bedroom Preference: To limit overhousing, while providing households room to grow, the City has established a preference for households with at least one person per bedroom.
| ||||||
| Depending on the Lottery Type, other preferences may also be applicable. Please contact your Agent with specific questions. 781-853-1841 & eastiegrace@gmail.com
| ||||||
| HOW DO I INTERPRET THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?
| There are 13 columns (A-M) in each list that provide information about the status of your application
| These columns are updated by your Agent and provide a record of your correspondence with them.
| ||||||

| ||||||
